According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Eagles coach Chip Kelly has just turned his own personal don’t-give-a-damn meter to 11, bringing quarterback Tim Tebow in for a workout.
He’s just messing with us at this point.
The idea of Tebow and Mark Sanchez together again is almost too perfect to put into words. Kelly carries himself with a smartest-guy-in-the-room vibe anyway, but bringing in a guy the rest of the NFL had given up on speaks to a bit of hubris.
Could Tebow run the Eagles’ system, considering his roots running a spread offense at Florida? Sure. Maybe. Who knows?

Weird that in his only chance, he won a lot of games to get his losing team to the playoffs and won a playoff game. I don’ think he’ll get another chance, but to claim he can never read a defense is silly. Even if he didn’t do it in his first year on the field...hardly anyone can in that time frame. He’s a smart guy and can improve.

Until he hit the NFL, everyone told him how wonderful he was - sort of like NBA players currently. No one corrects issues for fear of chasing a prospect away.
So you didn't factor in his last two years of QB training and conditioning?
Well now he's trying to change 15 years worth of mechanics. The question is will he remember the changes when the pressure is on or will he revert to form?
Before the Patriots gave him a tryout everyone was talking about how he'd worked with former pro quarterbacks and his passing was much improved and his footwork had improved and all the rest. It took Belichick about 5 or 6 weeks to determine that nothing was different.
Wish it was not Phi. but I think using him like Gifford was way back when as a double threat runner / passer could be interesting from the full back position esp in the pro set.
We haven’t seen the results of that. What we have seen is him and other QBs get “special training” from various veterans and take the field and still be the same old mediocre QB they were before. It’s technically possible Tebow could be the exception, but the rule is if you come out of college lacking the basic fundamental skills you never get them. So Tebow will probably still be a bad QB. He’s a nice guy, but he simply does not have what it takes.
How could I factor that in—there’s no way to see the effect of that as a simple fan. There’s no games, no practice, and no tape.
He was formidable in Denver. Josh McDaniels, the Patriots QB coach had taken him in Denver, and was probably his biggest supporter in NE. I was surprised at how bad he looked in the NE offense. Now, part of the problem might be that the Pats weren’t going to change their dropback offense, designed around Brady, to a run/option offense for the backup. In that style of offense, he didn’t look good. I was disappointed.
I hope his last 2 years has helped him out. He’s seems like a great guy. He’s a great athlete, but he might not be an NFL level QB except in a run-option oriented offense.

I think it would have been possible for him to become a really great fullback and I hope Tebow will continue to try to play. It is possible that he may be away from playing football too long. If Tim cannot play anymore then I hope Tim Tebow will become a college football coach. He has a great life story and it is possible he has some unfinished work ahead of him.
Belickick also chose Bledsoe over Brady. Brady was 3rd string his first year, as I recall. Then, Bledsoe got injured. What Brady brought to the team was something you don’t see until a few games are played, and it comes down to the wire: heart. Tebow had heart, too, and managed to win a lot of games when he was given the chance. I think the biggest obstacle for Tebow is that a team has to change its offensive scheme so much for him to be successful, and then, if he ever got injured, the team would be screwed. Better to stick with standard issue quarterbacks for most teams.
For the same reason Julius Irving did not develop a jump shot until his 3rd year in pro basketball. He did not need to to win games.
Ya know Kyle Orton back then could rack up the yds but had major issues closing those drives In red Zone...Tebow did well in red zone but wasn’t your best long distance drive guy...a major league closer pitches 11% every other game and is deemed a vital part of team...your standard about having to be a starter doesn’t fit any mold except one manufactured by an ignorant media...Rivera did mighty fine thank you as a yank pitcher who wasnt a starter...once upon a time major league baseball had no. Losers...certain football teams with certain starting QBS need to bring in a distinct type of qb in the red zone

I agree with you.
But you know how the media gets as Easter approaches.
And talent. An area Tebow is lacking in. Nobody denies that Tebow has heart. And leadership ability. But neither one will get you a spot on the roster if you lack the ability to play the position at the pro level.
He certainly seems like a fellow who could prosper in coaching, like the Harbaugh brothers have done.
He's been coached by some of the best. It hasn't taken.
