Audio Editor Needed
3/17/15 | Me

Posted on 03/17/2015 6:34:26 PM PDT by ducttape45

Hello all. A few weeks back I petitioned Freepers in my need to find a good program to recode videos I downloaded from Amazon. Amazon Unbox is being discontinued and the program you all suggested (Audials) has been the key to salvaging my video collection.

Now I need a program to edit various audio files. I've used Wavepad in the past but it has become user "unfriendly" in the last couple of years.

The program doesn't have to be complex or "busy looking." I just need something that is simple to use yet powerful enough to edit various types of audio files and save them. If I have to pay for the program, that's cool too. I paid $40 for Audials and it has been the greatest video recoder that I've ever worked with.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Audacity is powerful, cross-platform, and free.

I've used audacity for several years. My needs are very simple, so I have not exercised nearly all it provides. It's simple to use and it's free. You can register and they will notify you of updates about once year.

Audacity download.

Yep. A pleasant departure from the old adage about “getting what you paid for”.

I had been using Soundforge but it wasn’t compatible with Win7 or above and it’s replacement was ~ $300. My choice was easy.

Unless you have a commercial studio and can afford something like Sweetwater’s Pro software, Audacity is the way to go.

Well, there is no use in my posting since everyone has already covered Audacity but it can be found here:

Audacity. I also donated $$ to them, which is optional, but keeps them interested in continuing making improvements. It is a great editor, especially on Windows.

Oops! I forgot to mention that Audacity should not be downloaded EXCEPT from the sourceforge.net site. Others are not good sites to trust.
