Lufthansa is in deep doo -doo here.
This guy never should have been put behind the controls of an airliner for psych reasons and Lufthansa willfully continued his flight training instead of washing him out like they should have.
Worst yet, Lufthansa operates their own flight school and were aware of they guys issues even before he started his training but kept him on throughout the training process.
Health problems related to HIV, perhaps?

It’s reported that he had a doctor’s note excusing him from work that day, but he tore it up. Finding that in a trash can would certainly constitute important evidence, but there is probably much more than that.

He received his last treatment only weeks before he purposefully flew the plane into the ground, thereby killing himself and all other 149 people on board. Obviously the treatments didn't take.
