“But, some states due not allow such marriages, and that is perfectly legal...correct?”

Why punish someone because of who they love? /sarc

Close to half the states allow first cousin marriage.

I’m curious where you get the notion that first cousin marriage is prohibited by Christianity. I don’t think that’s the case.

Not sure about Talmudic Judaism. The Law certainly does not prohibit marriage of first cousins. In fact, quite a few first cousins got married in the Bible. Jacob’s wives, for example.

I didn't say it did/didn't. That was from another FReeper. Consanguinity is very high in the Jewish faith. Certain Chrisitian 'groups, ie Amish, Mennonites, Mandaeans and others are infamous for their endogamy.

Sorry, guess I got lost in the threads.

I’m often surprised by Christians who say “Christianity prohibits that” without much in the way of evidence.

The medieval Church certainly came up with some elaborate consanguinity rules, but those aren’t in the Bible. Also were routinely violated when politically advantageous.

Funny. California allows 1st cousin marriage as do many other states.

And yet it prohibits 'relations' between consenting adult adopted (non-genetic) siblings.

Yep, that whole incest thing is pervasive and probably one reason so many of the Arab/muslims are f’d in the head and will never be able to govern themselves. I had an Iraqi staff member when I was working over in the sand box. He started telling me about his wife; “Ah yes, my uncle, he give to me!” He was so proud to have his mute cousin, the likely spawn of another inter-family marriage, as his wife. I was all the time cutting him loose so he could go to the hospital either for her or one of his kids. Weird stuff.
