The Justice Department says prison officials must treat an inmate’s gender identity condition just as they would treat any other medical or mental health condition.

The department stated its position Friday in a court filing in the case of Ashley Diamond, a transgender woman. The Southern Poverty Law Center in February filed a lawsuit against Georgia Department of Corrections officials on Diamond’s behalf.

The lawsuit says prison officials have failed to provide adequate treatment for Diamond’s gender dysphoria …

This is, of course, crazy... crazier than the poor confused inmate.

The DOJ’s position is that if someone is sexually needy or uncomfortable, and that someone is an imprisoned felon, the public purse is fully open. The thinking seems to be that sexual discomfort is bad.

What about all of the horny sexually normal males who are in prison? Will the DOJ consider ameliorating their problems, perhaps with paid surrogates? Of course not. It’s favored treatment of the protected LGBTQetc class.

I'm just wondering of the gaystapo will be up in arms knowing that this ‘historic transgender ruling’ is built on a murderer who has claimed in court cases that he was exposed as a jailhouse informant and thus must be transferred to federal custody, that fellow inmates are giving him diseases and therefore must be transferred to another facility to this latest case where he suddenly becomes a woman for 25 years (while all his other court cases, filed by him, refer to himself as a man...)
