Thank you for referencing that article DUMBGRUNT. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

Also, as FReepers read this post, please bear the following in mind. The reason that this federal food assistance program exists in the first place is likely a consequence of the ill-conceived 17th Amendment, state lawmakers foolishly giving up their voices in Congress by ratifying that amendment.

"One CEO tests how healthy low-income families can eat under the U.S. governments’ food assistance program."

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

Note that the states have never delegated to the corrupt feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for vote-winning food assistance programs.

The reason that taxpayers are now paying for unconstitutional federal programs like this food assistance programs is the following imo. When the Founding States established the federal Senate, they gave control of the Senate uniquely to state lawmakers. Part of the reason for having state legislatures control the Senate was so that the Senate could kill House appropriations bills which could not be justified under Congress’s Section 8-limited powers. This is because such bills, like the bill that established this vote-winning food assistance program, essentially steal state revenues that could be used for state food programs.

The problem is that the Progressive Movement spooked low-information citizens to pressure state lawmakers to ratify the ill-conceived 17th Amendment (17A). And as previously mentioned, state lawmakers caved in and ratified 17A, foolishly giving up the voices of the state legislatures in Congress.

The problem with the 17th Amendment as it concerns this unconstitutional federal food assistance program is this. After voters elect their favorite federal senators, they go home and watch football, oblivious to the idea that corrupt senators are robbing voter’s wallets in order to win their votes.

More specifically, the Senate is working in cahoots with the corrupt House to pass unconstitutional appropriations bills as evidenced by this food program, bills which Congress cannot justify under its Section 8-limited powers. And low-information citizens later reward their senators with votes for doing this because such citizens are clueless about the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers.

Also, if it wasn’t for 17A, state lawmakers might have built up a 2/3 conservative majority in the Senate by now. This means that Congress could have possibly impeached and booted lawless Obama from the Oval Office by now.

The 17th Amendment needs to disappear.

[[Two buck Chuck]]

That’s getting harder and harder to find- even 5-8 buck steaks now are as tough as 2 buck chuck used to be- can’t imagine how touch a 2 buck chuck would be- not sure if even boiling it would soften it enough to chew- but might make nice soles for your shoes

It was a joke. There is an ever expanding divide between the upper class/wealthy and jack hammered middle America. Of course they’re going to be telling what’s left of middle America it’s easy to feed and entire family on a few dollars a week.

That divide is growing all the time. It’s no secret.

Their token advise is pretty much a given.

You can get by on $4 a day but you would eat better if you feed 2 people for $8 a day. Then if you feed 4 people for $16 it would be even better.

Pinto beans for me in school. Some ham when I was flush.
Never on food stamps. I can see why black folks get PO’d at liberals, having been turned into their pets.
Anyway, people gave me wide berth: `Every little bean must be heard as well as seen.’

Eat “healthy”?

How about Eat, period.

Did they forget that Lord Obama, King of all he surveys, is in Charge? Hunger is a thing of the past, when we had a Republican President, remember?

Why, I’m surprised that Forbes hasn’t been shut down for Publishing such insolence. Nobody goes Hungry in Obama’s Transformed America.

On a serious note, what a bunch of Crap.

I bought a 4lb pack of chicken thighs yesterday for 1 dollar a pound at my local HEB Grocery in Texas. This was bone in with the skin. Once you take account for the waste of the bone and skin you are looking at about $1.50 a pound of pure meat.

When I shop I have a normal list of basics that I must have. I then round out my shopping basket with their specials.

Unfortunately beef is expensive everywhere in the USA due to the current shortage of feed and hay due to the weather the last two years. Also another factor is the use of ethanol for gasoline. It has made corn much more expensive due to the demand for government mandated use of ethanol in gasoline. As a long term fan of ethanol and gasoline I assure you ethanol is for drinking and gasoline is for burning in an internal combustion engine preferable with a displacement of of 396 cubic inches or greater. Muscle Cars, god I miss the 60s and 70s.

When you mix ethanol with gasoline it screws up the gasoline and the ethanol, making the gasoline an inferior product and the ethanol totally undrinkable unless you are a pretty good chemist. Think fractional distillation but I would not recommend you do that unless you know how to scrub out all the other additives in that abominable concoction that they call gasoline today.

Below click link to see specials at my local grocery store this week.

Later, during my LE career years, I walked into many a chronic welfare apartment with all the latest electronics

My cousin has been a deputy for many years said he has never walked into a house where the pantry and refrigerator was empty but every one living there didn't have a $5 pack of cigarettes in their pocket and at least one old car in the yard with $5000 worth of wheels, tires and stereo.....and they claimed they were too poor to buy food.

And you have to cook it in Dihydrogen Oxide which is a major ingredient in antifreeze and used in Nuclear power plants.

Every mass murderer consumed Dihydrogen Oxide by the quart on a daily basis!

Far better than free or cheap food!
A perfect tomato can only be grown at home.
Fresh dill, I put it on almost everything, while I can.
I froze over 25 qt. of snow peas to help through the winter.
My brussel sprouts are good until about Christmas.

With some luck I should have my first radish sandwich in about 10 days!

And the simple joy of watching the plants grow!

I lived on less than that a day (adjusted for inflation) for several years when I was starting a business. It’s not that hard.

I got my calories from starch - potatoes, rice, and pasta especially.

I got protein from eggs and occasionally from inexpensive meats that were reduced due to shelf life issues.

I got vitamins and minerals from fresh fruits and vegetables that were in season, particularly from local farmers.

It was healthy, tasty, inexpensive, and fun.
