An animal rescue group says the cat that was killed by Kristen Lindsey was not feral but instead was this pet, Tiger, owned by an elderly couple. (KBTX-TV)

Picture of her displaying her victim at the link. I won't post it.

Feral cats are invasive species. They exterminate the indigenous wildlife.

Australia has lost 29 species to them since 1788.

Why do cat-lovers want to drive native species to extinction?

If you have a cat, keep it inside.

She has been fired.

Unless she focuses on farm animals and ranchers, she may have trouble finding work, city and suburban pet owners are not going to take to her.

Oh, you favor picking the winners and losers is nature? You sound like a progressive to me. There are some poor tadpoles out in California farm country you could cry for too.

I listened to a lecture from a wildlife biologist around 1990. After the lecture we were talking and he said he kills every feral house cat he sees in the woods.

He said they are extremely destructive of native wildlife.

My cats can’t go out where I live now but I let my cats go out when I can. Cats like to bask in the sun, climb trees, roll in the grass, Chase bugs. Making a cat stay inside all their life I believe is a less quality life for a cat.

I read an article that said one feral cat kills 1000 animals a year, and doesn’t do it to eat, for the most part. I hate the damn things.

I have no problem with hunting invasive species.

Her big mistake was posting that pic. No one would have known out of her family, but she needed to boast about her skill set. Hunting somewhat domesticated animals is already controversial, but if you belong to the professional ‘holy order’ of animal healers, most people expect you to show love and compassion to all nature of beast all of the time.

Here is the “feral cat” in action with it’s owner.

Amen! I keep my 2 catz inside and safe. They don't go out to terrorize the neighbors as ferals.

And untagged animals ARE ferals.

We had cats on our ranch for mice control but when they started to become too numerous we shot some of them and hauled them off. We kept the cat population a down.

Yep. If she weren’t a vet she’d be called a future serial killer. She really screwed up. She’ll need a new career.

I was agreeing with 2 posters on the general subject of invasive species. Nothing about this household pet.

Killing feral cats makes a lot of sense. It’s a very common practice. But it’s very unfortunate if she mistook someone’s pet cat for a feral one.

We don’t have feral cats in my part of Texas.
We have coyotes.
Cats and lone dogs of any size are part of the food chain.

No tags, no collar. Feral cats around us come and cap on our property, of course where our dogs can get it and eat it. On my property, my discretion on how to deal with them. I don’t see anywhere in the article that this woman was not taking care of what she thought of as a problem on her own property. Want to help make sure your pets are safe, keep them on your property.

I had a neighbor who got irritated because I kept catching his cat in a live trap. He really didn’t like it when I pointed out that it was better than may dogs catching it.

I don’t mind cats but my dogs don’t have any experience with them and see a varmint that needs killin.
