Would someone please remind me again how many of today’s Hollywood elite put their careers on hold to enlist in Iraq or Afghanistan?

The only ‘one’ modern day hero was, Pat Tillman, who turned down a contract offer of $3.6 million over three years from the Arizona Cardinals to enlist in the US Army after September, 11, 2001 and serve as a Ranger in Afghanistan, where he died in 2004.
But rather than being lauded for his choice and his decision to put his country before his career, he was mocked and derided by many of his peers and the Left.

Excellent list. And now we have little dorks like Tom Cruise saying some nonsense about acting being as hard as combat......

Him saying that to Lee Marvin's face would be priceless.

Great list.

I have a great idea!
Anyone who wants to be an actor, should serve their country first.

Child actors should have a mom or dad who served.
When child actor reaches enlisting age, they must stop acting and serve before they can act again.

I think this would remove 95% of the air head actors.

I have a hard time picturing aged Millennials, looking back 50 years or so to the long-gone 2010s, feeling nostaligic for the great days when awesome stars like Kim Kardashian were popular, mighty statesmen like Barack Obama made everyone feel safe, and all the kids were groovin' to Justin Bieber tunes.

What will those people think of when they look back to this time period? It's not a good time.

Don’t forget Ole Lonesome George Gobel. US Army Air Corps. When he told stories of his WWII service in Oklahoma (”That must have been where I was needed because that’s where they sent me”), noted that he had done a good job as “The Japs never got any further than Tulsa.”

Notable quotes;
I’ve never been drunk, but often I’ve been overserved.

Did you ever get the feeling that the world is a tuxedo and you’re a pair of brown shoes?

If it weren’t for electricity, we’d all be watching television by candlelight.

You’re a dork! an adorable one too!
What are you doing wearing my grandma’s glasses?

Your sisters are just too cute. Give them a hug and pinch their cheeks!
The plaid pants. WOW! egads and they’re a matching pair. I feel sorry for the younger one if she had to wear hand me downs.

I wonder why plaid was popular.
I still have my old plaid blanket which was used in my father’s VW bug. By now it’s about as thin as a bed sheet. I’ve seen plaid wallpaper. I just never understood plaid clothes. It only looks good on horses and Scots (or is that Irish?)

I watched cartoons on the TV (the one with the model standing next to it) in picture 2 for many an hour (at least on Saturday mornings). I watched Howdy Doody and The Lone Ranger on it too. The cabinet is still in the basement in our house, though the last use for it was cleaning fish.
