No apologies needed and you’re right. My ignorance is appalling.

All flaming aside, Pittsburgh is a very interesting city to visit. It is a bit on the old side, however it has a very varied population and cultural background going back to pre-civil war.

You would have to live in Pittsburgh to understand the response to the G20 protestors that were bussed in. There was a great deal of foreboding, but the residents remained quiet until the first window was broken (Pamelas), then all heck broke loose with residents chasing down the protestors. The police received complete support from the residents. The attitude was not in our city.

There are many frustrating things about this city, however race relations is not one of them.

The Burgh DID have riots after the MLK assassination. I was very little. But I clearly remember my dad sitting on the stairs of our SW Oakland row house holding his hunting rifle and a box of shells beside him. We were land locked between the cliff above the Parkway East and the Blvd of the Allies (no way “out” except the Blvd and too much “trouble” there to safely leave that way).

And I have to add...do you know you misspelled Pittsburgh?!?! ;)

My late grandmother (worked as a domestic when she came over from Ireland) ran a boarding house in the lower Hill (Melody Tent area-the state took the house for the building of the Civic Arena). After that they moved to the Lower Hill. A lot of Irish immigrants there back in the day (tho most long gone).

Yes sir. I acknowledge my error. The interesting thing is, it seems my misspelling of Pittsburgh is going to get more responses than all of the comments Al Sharpton has made in the past year. It goes to show where priorities are in this nation these days. Satan IS in control now.

The 'Burgh did not have widespread violence in the aftermath of MLK's assassination. Unrest was confined almost entirely to the Hill District [I lived there at the time] and Homestead. Since the Hill housing projects directly overlooked Oakland, no doubt people living there were concerned.

And I have to add...do you know you misspelled Pittsburgh

I did not.

I was teasing the OP for doing so.
