A Powdered Alcohol, Palcohol, Was Approved by the TTB On March 10 and Is Now Legal To Sell

I have found a company that is going to start making powdered alcohol this year. The product is called Palcohol and is probably going to outshine the marijuana industry even though it is going to have similar enemies as does the marijuana industry.

Taken from the company's website, http://www.palcohol.com: "The TTB approved Palcohol on March 10, 2015 and It is now legal to be sold in the United States. We will be working on getting the production facility up and running. It will take a while but hopefully it will be available this summer. "

What exactly is the point of this? If you want to drink, drink...and have a good time. This is because drinking has always been a social thing and in addition, alcoholic beverages have a flavor, a history and a social component that goes way beyond just getting a buzz. Sprinkling alcohol onto your glass of Perrier or even your breakfast cereal and milk is not the same as drinking.

To me, the packet of instant alcohol is a real step down because it is basically meant for using alcohol as a pill or a drug like any other.

It might make making Molotov cocktails easier. Someone going to come up with an explosive device using this.

Why do our politicians and government keep teling us we are a free country, when they grab every opportunity to make more laws that only restrict our adult freedom?

There are simple ways to make alcohol more easily absorbed already.

Alcohol can be nebulized, among other things. Probably not a good idea, but this doesn’t change much on that front.

It will be interesting for cooking.

“Ima try snortin’ it with a straw. “

You would need a large straw. Half a cup of powder to get one shot down.

I may be wrong and I confess I didn’t read the sales pitch very carefully. My assumption is powdered alcohol could be taken in higher % concentrations but I honestly don’t know for sure. I scoffed at molecular gastronomy too

“. My assumption is powdered alcohol could be taken in higher % concentrations “

The alcohol is encapsulated in a carbohydrate derivative. It is released when mixed in warm water. So to get the alcohol to a liquid form for absorption it will take some time. Mixing it with Prep H would also slow the release even longer.

Also, the company is packaging it so that 1/2 cup is about one shot. To get a substantial dose, you gonna have to do a whole lot of packin’.

“Mixing it with Prep H”. That tells me that your post was completely unreliable. Thanks. I’m not at all a fan of sarcasm.

It may be bulkier, but what makes it attractive is the weight savings.

It weighs no less than the equivalent liquid. If you don’t like heavy bottles, then use lightweight ones.

““Mixing it with Prep H”.”

Sorry. I thought I was responding to Scrambler Bob’s post where he suggesting mixing it with Prep H to speed up absorption. Not my idea. I was countering his idea.

“It weighs no less than the equivalent liquid.”

If your ‘liquid’ is 200 proof.
