If the Milky Way does possess a similarly huge halo, the two galaxies halos may be nearly touching already and quiescently merging long before the two massive galaxies collide. Quiescent merging? Is that what the kids are calling it today?
More seriously, does this account for the missing matter which caused galactic spin rate to not match their observed mass and eliminate the need for some type of "dark matter" which can only interact with other matter gravitationally.

There are some mighty good and qualified people, Bible BELIEVING Christians, of course, who maintain that no stars are ACTUALLY being formed at this time; and they have scientific data to back it up. New “star formation” is just another lash-up by evolutionists to help prop up their unbelieving pipedream. In the same classification as AGW.

No mention of how dense the halo is. Dense enough to affect starship travel?

If the Milky Way does possess a similarly huge halo, the two galaxies halos may be nearly touching already and quiescently merging long before the two massive galaxies collide. Hubble observations indicate that the Andromeda and Milky Way galaxies will merge to form a giant elliptical galaxy beginning about 4 billion years from now.Or, as I suspect, are orbiting each other, and have been for some time.

I’d love to see some of the pictures from the first Hubble they sent up, there are two of them, one points outward the other points at planet Earth.

Wonder if this could impact the dark matter calculations? by adjusting the amount of matter currently calculated as “missing”.
