" translator-fuse "
Is that Russian for trigger assembly?
To: Daffynition
This is great news. In a few years, they ought to start offering a civilian version of it. Which means some AK owners will be willing to part with their old one on the cheap to help defray the cost of the new one. And I'll be sitting here waiting for a seller.

Looks like this one is 5.45 instead of 7.62x39.
“New belt.”
Belt fed would be nice.
Also a three position selector.

I expect sticker shock with these when the civilian version is available. But, you know it will go like hotcakes..............Might even consider going 7.62x39 for the first time in my life. 5.54, never.

I wouldn't even mind if I could get my hands on a cheap old SKS with no bluing and bad furniture so I could give it the full Tapco treatment. A man has to work on a budget, ya know.

"Ak74?"
Article did not mention what caliber the Russians were going with. Seems a while back I read something about them having second thoughts about their pipsqueak cartridge as the US (other than the vested interests) has had. Dunno if they have acted on that.

Too much stuff attached to it, or this particular one anyway.
Seems like its got a nicer grip plus rails, uglier stock.
No bayonet. Gotta have the bayonet. Can’t rightly oppress people without them.

I suspect they got rail envy and saw all the garbage the tacticool guys were hanging all over the AR and demanded the same.
Sure looks like someone checked out a few AR builder catalogs and said "This we must have!".

Classic Arms has Chinese ones for $300. That's about as cheap as they get.
Sadly gone are the days when you could pick up an SKS for $69 and a thousand rounds of steel core for $89.

It looks like rails that happen to have a gun attached.

The most interesting change is the safety and selector setup: two different levers. The rearmost appears to be the safety and the forward selects between automatic ("AV" and semiauto ("PR"). Big change from the old system and a bit more ergonomic - though weird.
The rest looks like the folding stock lays on the left side of the receiver when folded and they have succumbed to the silly stuff we have slapped all over our M-4 Carbines, i.e., laser pointers, vertical forward handgrips, etc. etc..We started with a short, handy carbine that only weighed 5 pounds or so then larded the things up with "necessary accessories" and put the weight up to M-1 Garand size. Sheesh!
They have finally moved the rear sight to the rear of the receiver cover to improve the sight radius - and I will have to assume that they have gone to using a peep sight in that location. Thereby adopting what the Finns (Valmet) and the Israelis (Galil) have done for decades to improve that little beast's precision.

The selector type they used reminds of HK91 & G3 rifles.
