On May 28, Judge Frederick J. Scullin Jr. denied the District of Columbias request for an administrative state in the ruling against the good reason provision in DCs concealed carry permitting process.
The good reason requirement forced residents applying for a concealed carry permit to demonstrate a justification for wanting to carry a gun. Breitbart News previously reported that Judge Scullin ruled against the requirement on May 18, saying it impinges on Plaintiffs Second Amendment right to bear arms.
The administrative stay would have extended the effective date for Scullins May 18 ruling, giving the city more time to evaluate options. The denial of this stay means DC must immediately begin issuing permits without a good reason requirement.
The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) represented the plaintiffs in the case.

Good,Let the games begin
Good, people have the right of self-defense (espcially when police chiefs and sheriffs advise they cannot respond fast enough to protect us).
But of course, no permits are really supposed to be required at all! (...’the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed...” US Constitution)
I guess every step forward is to be celebrated as a step forward!
At the risk of being snide, isn’t living in DC “good reason”?
Let the felons now be afraid.
Sorta like Obolas amnesty only in reverse.
In 1st Infantry Division parlance, “a step towards Rome is a step towards home”.
I suspect DC will still find a way to make CCW difficult or costly. They need a much bigger slap-down.
I do happen to believe an armed society IS a polite society.
Amen.
Thank the NRA for the permit problem.
I have a suspicion that the city will go into full contempt, and just refuse the judge’s order.
They did. IIRC, there is almost no way to legally obtain a handgun in DC. The one way is backlogged and stupid expensive.
Haha, you wimpy, pajama boy, gun-fearin’ LIBs.
For a while you had to take a special class but then they refused to process applications to teach the special class
Why can’t we get a judge like this here in NY?
Kinda sounds like they've been denying permits to Negroes and homosexual couples....
