Los Altos High Students Claim History Textbooks Ignore U.S. ‘Crimes Against Humanity,’ Want Revision

A group of students at Los Altos High School want California history textbooks revised, claiming the current textbooks don’t tell the whole story.

The students claim the version of American history taught in California classrooms is at best incomplete and at worst biased and inaccurate: failing to adequately cover the experiences, accomplishments and frequent mistreatment of communities of color and women.

“There’s definitely value at looking at the good things we have done, there’s definitely value at being proud of those things, and there’s even more value in acknowledging what we haven’t done correctly,” one of the students said.

Members of a history club at the school, which calls itself “The Left Guild” for its left-leaning politics, say they spent months reviewing the state’s history standards.

In a letter to State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson, the group describes the current curriculum as “sanitized” and “misrepresentative” of the actual historical record.

In one of the group’s more controversial claims, they said U.S. foreign policy after World War II represents an “actual holocaust” which has resulted “in the needless deaths of hundreds of millions.”

“If we’re not, on the one hand, learning about the true scope and scale of crimes against humanity upon which the United States was formed, the genocide of Native Americans, the realities of slavery, we’re not going to understand the similar crimes playing out in the present tense,” said Seth Donnelly, the group’s faculty advisor.

San Jose State University Professor Bob Rucker said reassessing the textbooks is long overdue, that our history books themselves have a long history of neglecting the stories of minorities and women.

“More people were involved in the history of this country, so more people should be included and seen as part of the learning of the history of this country,” Rucker told KPIX 5.

The state’s Department of Education said they will hold a series of public meetings, in a process that’s expected to take months, if not years.

US foreign policy after WW2 was to rebuild Europe and Japan. i challenge these ignorant wimps to justify their assertion of a “holocaust”.

First, we can have the democrat party apologize for slavery and Jim Crow, and have them pay reparations.

Students my ass. They’re just a bunch of little commie fags. Hopefully, every one of them will enjoy a short life and a miserable future.

Los Altos is a rich, largely white bedroom community in the south bay, and evidently serves as a commie hatchery to boot.

It is really sad that a faceless, nameless and undefined "group" of high school students unformed and still yet painfully ignorant human beings should presume to run the asylum.

What constitutes a "group?" more than three?
Are they citizens?
Are they even legal residents?
Do they display allegiance to the U.S.? To a foreign or non-existing "State?"

Can they be identified?

Why do we bother to elect School Boards who can't be bothered to act as adults and control the rabble?

Let me repeat the easy question : What are we talking about here? A handful of thugs? Malcontents? Indolent losers?

There WAS a holocaust after World War II.....the killing of 57 million American babies (and counting) since Roe vs. Wade in 1973.

Probably not what these pampered little moonbats had in mind.

You can’t question their authority. That’s not how Stalinists play the game.

What a shame. The great United States of America decaying into a putrid leftist cesspool of self-hatred and suicidal tendencies. While her enemies drool and prepare for the kill, from within and without.

The left has the maelstrom it wanted, the malcontents and anarchists turned loose from within. From outside, invaders from all sides making moves, lying in wait - and the sheeple go about their business like dumb herds with no one watching over them. The end cannot be good. Sad times for a once great nation. The Founders would weep.

We lose elections because we run top down paid media election campaigns against a bottom-up, race-based, campaign in which the electorate has been thoroughly conditioned by institutions such as the educational establishment which are funded by the federal and state governments.

… From a post several days ago.

The Republican establishment undertakes to win elections by running a media blitz, a top down campaign for 90 or 120 days prior to the election and we lose with an electorate that has been conditioned for decades by a bottom-up, institutionally based, federally funded and systematic indoctrination. The Republican establishment then tells us, next cycle we will do better, meanwhile elect a Republican House, Senate….

These kids did not come to these conclusions on their own. They have been led there and led there by people who are paid to educate rather than indoctrinate by taxpayers. They are paid by tax money which comes not just from the San Francisco area, high schools schools are all getting federal money as well as state money.

Until we find a way to stop the left from funding our destruction with our own money, we will see examples such as this article depicts of conservatism losing America.

Since when do I have to listen to a bunch of children tell me how things should be? Oh wait, I just might have damaged their esteem by questioning their abilities. Poor little babes, use your brain(which is still under developed)instead of your hormone enhanced feelings.

what republicans have always failed to understand is that the cultural marxists in the democrat party are running a long con. they don’t have to convince us to change our minds... they just have to wait for us to die of old age while they indoctrinate generation after generation of our kids. they are in it to win it and this is how America will meet its doom... not with a bang!, but with a whimper. eventually, they will own enough of the minds of the electorate to install perpetual 1-party tyranny that is immune to the ballot box.

You know, the history of “people of color” (I hate that phrase) including Native Americans isn't exactly a bowl of Cherry's, but we gloss over it because of the “evil white man”. My daughter always hated Social Studies class until she got the one conservative history teacher left in the district and absolutely loves it now. NOT because he teaches from a conservative point of view, but because he teaches history, not woman's or black studies disguised as history. There is good, bad, in all cultures and groups. The American experience has been the best history has given us but we are told today how bad we are. My father used to remind us how lucky we were to have been born in the U.S., now kids are taught how evil the U.S. has been with hardly any emphasis on the good.
