The joke in Brooklyn in 1958, if Hitler Stalin and O’Malley were in a room and you had two bullets who would you shoot - O’Malley two times.

Vin Scully is a sportscaster and was never a Dodger. He worked for CBS and NBC. Shouldn’t be on the list. If he’s on the list for sentimental reasons, then perhaps we could include mascots, hot dog vendors, etc

Cool, Sandy Koufax number 1, that is who I would have picked for the one slot too.

It just does not get any better than that!

Pfft! Try the Red Sox being down three games to none to the dreaded Yankees and then going on to be World Champions!

True story: I was driving back to Cincinnati, OH from Nashville, TN the night of that game. Just north of the city where I-24 and I-65 split there was a horrendous accident and traffic jam, and we sat on the interstate through the entire game. A guy in a pickup 2 cars in front of me had a battery powered TV, and a bunch of us watched that home run happen standing in the middle of I-24/I-65. I’ll never forget it.

Dazzy Vance, Ron Cey, Dave Lopes, Bill Russell missing? What bout Jim Gilliam and John Roseboro? Well lists like this inspire discussion and debate.

Reese integrated baseball:

There were lots of folks involved for sure, Manager Leo Durocher told Dixie Walker and his little group of petitioners where to stick that petition.

Yep. Ebbets Field. And I’m afraid I forget who, but someone hit a home run out of the park. I do remember eating a hot dog in a bun with mustard, which was standard fare at the time. And Coke in a can.

Any team is made up of quite a bit more than just the players if that is what you mean. You can say the same for Walter Alston, the O’Malleys, and Branch Rickey - would you consider them to also be here just for sentimental reasons and not Dodgers?

Walter Alston, the O’Malleys, and Branch Rickey were all involved with the Dodgers as managers or owners. They were part of the Dodgers organization.

Vin Scully worked for CBS and NBC.

A little before my time, though I sure remember Dizzy Dean and Pee-Wee Reese doing the CBS Game of the Week.

“...He fouls it off and...whoa, look out Diz!”

Bang!
