Again, the story is disturbing enough as it is, but you’re adding misinformation to it.
Their son Josh had his sexual problems long before TV. However, like most parents, wanted his problems cleared up so it would not ruin his life. Curiosity should only kill the cat—not the kid. And, leaking out information from police files is like publicizing ones medical files.

I agree that it’s not a good idea to put your family on TV. I don’t understand that mindset among people.
But, this time, they needed to go on TV to talk about what happened because this story has spiraled out of control.
They took Josh to the police to make an impact. I think they nipped his perverse digression in the bud and turned his life around. They wanted it to be a family matter but the anti-family media has another agenda.

Seems to me they also go to the extremes....not much breathing room. Holding too tight a rein can “provoke” the opposite of the intent.

I agree, and am glad to see some sanity and Christian expressions on this subject.
I don’t know a thing about the Duggars, never met them, never watched them and am baffled as to why watching them constitutes “entertainment”, but I guess that all makes me as able to judge them as anyone else. And, I’m going to decline, at least for now, given the all the questions and lack of clarity.

Who is forcing the Duggars to go on national television?
No not so....they made themselves ‘celebrities’ (known and seen)....which is always an open field. They knew this going in, or at least should have.
They agreed to bring in the Christian element into the show, or decided to do so. That will always add to the “celebrity” status and certainly leave one all the more open.
The show is about two people who opted to have 19 children, had they not had the children there would not be a show..Christian or not.
Why make an ‘impact’ with the police when it was already a settled matter within the family and with counselors ,according to them? It wasn’t necessary he’d already “turned his life around’.
I have watched 19 Kids and Counting once with my wife. I found the family admirable and I wondered when they will be a target like the Robertson family of Duck Dynasty. The parallel media hate-fest is identical. I wonder why? Hint: Christianity.
One daughter was 5 when he molested her. She was awake and on his lap. He gropped her vagina and breast under clothing.
The other daughter who he took in the laundry room and removed her pants and panties and molested on the breast, buttocks and vagina was around 8.
I agree that it was a step too far taking him to the police. However, I have heard of parents doing it when they discover their child has broken the law. I know my parents would have done it.
