PHILIPSBURG – It could be argued that sleeping in a king-size bed with a fully plumbed bathroom inside your tent isn't actually camping.

However, for many guests at the Ranch at Rock Creek, that is their first taste of camping.

"They don't have closets but they do have armoires," said Rich Miller, director of facilities at the ranch outside Philipsburg.

In my boy scout days, we dreamed about a tent like that!

This might be ok if a person really needs to sleep in the woods, my idea of roughing it is Motel 6.

For the record I used to rough camp but now days I will have a trailer with a bed and toilet.

Duly noted on this day, Saturday, June 13, 2015, in the official FR Record Book.

You might want to avoid the Motel 6 in Beech Grove IN

http://wishtv.com/2015/06/11/police-look-for-wanted-man-at-beech-grove-motel/

BEECH GROVE, Ind. (WISH) — Beech Grove Mayor Dennis Buckley said the city cited the local Motel 6 for being a public nuisance after a drug-dealing suspect was arrested there following a police standoff.

Mayor Buckley said drugs and prostitution have been rampant at the motel, and he said police were called to the location hundreds of times last year.

..............

Buckley said employees now have 20 days to “take corrective action.” He said if there is still a crime problem there in 20 days, they will be issued a final warning and a 10-day grace period. If the problem persists after that, Buckley said, police can begin issuing fines every time they’re called to the property.

Hameau de la Reine

It's behind Versailles, probably the most ornate castle on Earth. But this here is much smaller and dolled up with lots of expensive rustic crap slapped on (it's actually not so small and is loaded with luxury features).

See, before Marie Antoinette got her HEAD CHOPPED OFF, she was a big fan of Rousseau, who talked up the romance of THE WILDERNESS, and man's pure, primitive state of nature, and all that.

And she could think of it as quaint and mysterious, precisely because she lived her whole life so flamboyantly insulated from the real world.

So she commissioned a ton of people to scare up this smaller castle, in back of Versailles so that she could --NOT MAKING THIS UP-- dress up as a MILK-MAID and play around as if she was a commoner, sort of like Michelle Obama whining about ALL her struggles.

Sick, huh?

But then, that's what this Glamping stuff is, too.

I hated those, in Washington state where it rained all the time they just didn’t make any sense, but the Army issued them.

We haven’t camped in a couple of years, but when we did, it was not just for the camping experience, (which we enjoyed), but as a base of operations from which to go sight-seeing, etc. I’d rather spend money on a camp site than an expensive hotel we would only be sleeping in. Our tent had a thick blow up mattress. We had a rug, lamp, fan and electric coffee maker and a blow up couch. we always got an electric site and made sure it had wifi! I do miss it but now that we’re older, we’re talking about getting a camper with air conditioning and a toilet. The idea of walking through the woods - in the dark, in the rain, at 2:00 am, just to go to the toity, is just something I’m not willing to do anymore!
