Orlando police dog mangled arm of 12-year-old burglary suspect
The Orlando Sentinel ^ | June 12, 2015 | Elyssa Cherney, Staff Writer

An Orlando Police Department dog mangled the arm of a 12-year-old burglary suspect during an arrest last week, sending the boy to the hospital for three days and adding to ongoing concern over whether deploying dogs on juveniles constitutes excessive force.

The OPD incident report from June 4 states the boy had pried open portable classrooms at Shingle Creek Elementary School and started running after officers told him to stop.

But two other minors, also charged in the burglary, saw the whole thing and said the injured boy had already dropped to his knees in compliance when the dog lunged at him, family members said.

“Their attorney, Bradley Laurent, said the family will pursue a lawsuit if the city cannot resolve the issue. “

I don’t have much sympathy for the little bum.

The kid probably did thousands of dollars worth of damage to steal less than $50 worth of junk. I have little sympathy.

Then he tried to outrun a dog instead of complying with lawful police orders. I have even less sympathy.

Finally, his friends claim he was complying. I have heard that before - every single time a black person is injured during an arrest - and I don’t believe it for a moment. I have no sympathy at all.

I’m glad he got chewed a bit, and I hope it wakes him up and makes him reconsider thug life. Sadly, the professional racists on the left will make such a fuss that this kid will have no chance at all to learn from his mistakes. He’ll be dead before he reaches 18 y/o.

I have a suggestion....to the kid: don't try to start a criminal career, you aren't good at it.

To his parents...: the kid is 12 years old, why the hell don't you know where he is and what he's doing....and where did he come upon the idea of doing illegal things?????

I'm not positive, of course, but I'd put a large wager on the fact that daddy is no where to be seen.

Excuse me Mr. Criminal sir, but before we can deploy this really smart dog on your ass, we need to know if you’re a legal adult.

If a dog was not under positive control, then it shouldn’t be used in law enforcement.

If the dog was under positive control, then the officer shouldn’t be employed in law enforcement.

If he can’t tell the difference, he shouldn’t venture too far from parking enforcement.

Clearly the dog is racist and needs to retake the sensitivity training section at obedience school.

Michael Brown’s accomplice, Dorian Johnson, could always testify that the unarmed 12 year old was simply holding out a dog biscuit for the police dog with one hand and handing the police a Koran to read with the other when he was bitten by the dog because it prefered a bacon flavored treat instead of the beef flavored one offered.
Makes sense to me.

If this happened more often, who wants to bet that burglaries would plummet nationwide?
