The only gay bar in Forest Hills is having an identity change, its owner said.
Pride owner Georgios Aspiotis, who opened the watering hole on Austin Street in October 2013, said the venue wasn't making enough money and it's changing into a "neighborhood bar" to attract a broader clientele.
The bar will still be gay friendly but will no longer be described as a gay lounge, Aspiotis said Monday. He also plans to change the name of the bar to "Sorry Not Sorry," he said.
“Starting July 1, I am changing the identity,” Aspiotis wrote on the bar’s Facebook page, as first reported by Edge of the City.
“It has been a great journey. The LBGT [sic] community has been so great... but unfortunately the spending and the register doesn't reach my goals.”
While some of the decor might change, the bar will continue to offer the same drinks and hookah. It will also keep serving food from Greek restaurant Corfu Grill located next door, which is also owned by Aspiotis.
A farewell party for Pride patrons is being planned for the last weekend of June.
You mean excluding 98% of the population isn’t good for business? Shocking.

Okay I am a business guy in a tough economy. I want to take a bar and make it exclusive to 1-2% of the population,
and expect that I will do better financially with 98% of the rest of the customer base not spending money in my business.

How would you *ever* sanitize the place?
Locally, many years ago, the Deer Park Lodge was *the* place to go for fine dining.
Then homos infested it.
It became a grim joke and no matter the food, normal people would not step foot inside.
The homos went out of business shortly after 0 ascended the throne [LOL] and it went up for sale.
No matter how low the price, no one would buy it.
The attached stigma was slightly less horrid than a TB sanitarium.
Can’t wait to see the changeover on Bar Rescue.
Greeks in this country are some of the best capitalists.
Gay bars are only successful if there is a HUGE population base from which to draw. I live in a city of 3 million and there’s only about a dozen of them here, most of which are in one four-block section of the downtown core. In spite of what the mass media would have us believe, the homosexual population is extremely small.

It’s literally in the middle of nowhere and nothing, on top of a mountain, surrounded by thousands of acres of woods on a road that gets very little traffic, even on weekends.
