Just thought I would share my project I have been working on for about 5 years now. I am definitely on the home stretch now, about 90% complete. I have a guy coming next week to do all the finish work on the outside, I simple do not have the patience for finish work, everything else was pretty easy, just time consuming. I already have a 200hp IO360 ready to bolt on. Gear was all installed but I had to remove to seal the fuel tanks, so Now it is on a stand. After the finisher does the top and sides I have to turn it upside down and finish some stuff on the bottom, then it is just a matter of reassembly. With any luck it will fly this year.

No landing gear... that is the RATO sled.
Fine lookin’ ride! I had an M20E with an IO 360-A1A, and I can’t give than motor no less that 10/10. I cruised about 155kts at 65%, and 9 gph.
I’ve a serious question about your kit...does it come with lightning protection, or is that an option? What is the weight “penalty” for the mesh?
FReepmail me if you wish:-)
A Velocity? I would (and you probably have) put a protective cover on the plexiglass until you are done finishing and painting.
Oh, my aching bladder... LOL!
Aren’t the EZs Rutan designs?
When that thing is painted and finished it will be gorgeous. And cruising at 200 knots is awesome. Congrats.
...will surely be a thing of beauty when finished.
...BTW, speaking of Rutan, I remember meeting Dick Rutan when he ran for Congress in my district back in the early 90's...he didn't win after his flying partner on Voyager(Jeana Yeager)first backed his candidacy, then stabbed him in the back telling folks instead to vote for the "experienced"(old fart)dem. challenger George E. Brown.
Have quite a few times, pretty dark inside though so when I had a lot of stuff to do inside I peeled off the tape, going to tape backup Sunday before the finish guy comes.
Nope, no lightning protection, Not sure it will need it considering it is plastic.
Congrats, it’s going to be a great ride...
Nice.
My dentist got about 2/3 of the way through one and got an aversion to the chemicals and had to quit.
He sold it and has since stuck to his 170,
I have an RV 6 A with a lycoming 160 with an ifr panel.
I cruise at 70 percent power at 150 and have had it to 220.
Best flight was to 10,000 feet just north os Sebastian Florida where my son and i filmed a shuttle launch where the ship came up towards us.
Good luck and GOD apeed.
Have fun.
Amen to “wish it was mine”.
The most advanced thing I ever flew was a Piper Archer II, which is a four place airplane, having learned in a Cessna 152.
In the Archer, Piper dropped that old “Hershey bar” wing they’d been using on the Cherokees, etc., and changed to the laminar-flow wing design. That wing design loves to fly. The first few times I landed it, it seemed to want to keep on flying and I really had to cut the power and almost “force” it to settle down and land.
It’s a great feeling having something like that under you, that you KNOW just wants to keep flying. I bet that canard wing out front on that EZ-type machine makes for a great ride and a joy to fly, too.
Keep the pictures and progress reports coming. Happy flying!
I'll try to get my envy down to a slow, roiling boil, but I'm going to have to work at it.
The RG and their new V-Twin are gorgeous.
Can't wait to see it painted! Do show and tell...
Looking good, this has whetted my appetite for a pilot’s license. Thanks!
