Looks like we have a possible attempted assault on a drone here.

My husband is a Christian. And goes respects the law. I See his pictures. I’m rather offended that you think every man is a pervert.

I saw this on the news, if I remember correctly he wasn’t actually charged with shooting down the drone, he was charged with violating some local ordinance on reckless discharge of a firearm within the city limits.

I think that the real issue is the possibility of injuring (or worse) someone from stray gunfire.

My understanding is that it was a shotgun with a birdshot load.

i.e. not a risk, really.

My understanding is that it was loitering over his property while his daughters were sunbaithing, and he used birdshot.

If both of these are true, I would say the father was justified, but maybe in a jury nullification sort of way.

the drone owner is claiming he took a bet from a friend to see if he could make it from A to B but I guess between A & B was this guys house.....He,homeowner with daughters, got pissed, shot it down, don’t blame him

If that is true, It puzzles me that the dad was able to get his loaded gun and get a bead on it so fast.

What would you call it if he put a camera on a stick to look over a privacy fence?

This was a legit drone and by other accounts, not peeping in on his daughter, which is a cute excuse for inexcusably shooting down someone else’s drone.

What’s your definition of “a legit drone?”

He operated it within the confines of someone else’s private property below the roof line. The daughter “shooed” it off and the operator moved it back and then returned.

I think the drone’s owner should have his property returned, by the father, inserted into the owner’s bodily orifice of the father’s choice.

The owner of the drone claims it was a fly by. However, the father had time to observe it, and go muster his gun. So it was stationery for some time.

In an earlier thread, the homeowner with daughters said that the drone had been buzzing around for 15 to 20 minutes before he shot at it. He said it hovered near the neighbor’s patio low enough for it to ‘see’ under the canvas covering. So... about 7 or 8 feet off the ground.

The drone flew near the girl who “shooed” it away. It backed off and returned.

That sounds like one hell of a strange race...

When you deal with pervert apologists you should understand they believe everyone thinks and behaves the same way as them.

A HERF gun should do trick and not have to worry about projectiles and cops...

The drone was definitely operated ILLEGALLY. A certificate from the FAA is required and this fellow did not have one.
It was not operated as a legal 'model aircraft' because it was out of the operator's line of sight.
So all of this was caused by the operator breaking the law- whatever the other facts are.

The drone laws are too strict, as is widely acknowledged. But there they are until they change.

He operated it within the confines of someone else’s private property below the roof line, low enough to see under a patio. Earlier the daughter “shooed” it off and the operator moved it back and then it returned, and stayed there long enough for the girl to go inside, get her dad, and for him to get his gun and go outside.

I’m a geek with the RC stuff...planes, multi copters, etc. You don’t fly them over people or their homes deliberately, not only potentially dangerous but just wrong.
