Looks like hoosierham was right. It’s 500 feet except...

http://www.flyhagerstown.com/downloads/pdf/nlowfly.pdf
“Helicopters may be operated at
less than the minimums prescribed In paragraph
(b) or (c) of this section if the operation is cond
ucted without hazard to persons or property on the
surface.”

Well, isn’t that some wishy-washy special interest garbage.

If a helicopter is repeatedly buzzing your place dangerously close to you, loved ones or structures, try mounting a camera with motion detection and aimed at its next likely path. Distribute the photos or video with your location to YouTube or another video site. Otherwise, use your imagination. Maybe build something useful (possibly an antenna) in very subdued color(s), or find out more about the creep at his LZ and elsewhere.

All of that said, air traffic will decrease during the years to come. Pray for big government default, economic collapse and disposal of antagonistic people.

No doubt, many remote control model hobbyists are still fine, young people. For the troublesome ones, first, if possible, find out who they are. Human beings, including antagonistic, spoiled ones (e.g., gossiping crones and their effeminate boys) are creatures of habit, and dirty tricks for dealing with dirty tricksters in turn are many.

A paint ball gun will decimate the things. The carbon fiber props(some are nylon) do not like a .50 cal. paint ball. Decent range too, cheap as well as legal.

Would you like strangers or univited neighbors gawking at you, your family,or your backyard and filming everything only from 100 feet away horizontally instead of vertically?

What gives someone the right to fly their toys in my private space ,annoying me,my family and pets?
I call BS to your BS.

I see a good opportunity here for an entrepreneur to create an antidrone device. Perhaps some sort of water cannon or one of those t-shirt launchers modified to fire a wet mass of thread.

For a few weeks I have been trying to remember the details of a toy from many years ago which "shot" a large net to trap flying things.

In fact, a police helicopter dropping large nets could trap any existing drone of any size, discovered near airports, no problem.

Remember the Hercules with a boom in the back which used to "trap" returning intelligence photo capsules from space satellites in the 60s and 70s?

The guy rightfully was arrested and should spend a nice amount of time in jail, plus pay to replace the $1,800 drone. Idiot.

The idiot is the drone dumbbell. Being able to afford expensive toys does not grant license to endanger the public. How much do those arrested development toys weigh, anyway?

I would think that if I had one of those things, the right thing to do would be to inform all the neighbors before attempting to fly it over the neighborhood. With the understanding that I am liable for any injury or property damage I might cause.

He operated it within the confines of someone else’s private property below the roof line, low enough to see under a patio. Earlier the daughter “shooed” it off and the operator moved it back and then it returned, and stayed there long enough for the girl to go inside, get her dad, and for him to get his gun and go outside.

That may or may not be what happened but it certainly wasn't reported that way in the original Daily Mail article.

It's funny what people choose to project onto this situation. For one, it wasn't reported that the man's daughters were sunbathing. They did say that the neighbor's daughter, who was the one who waived at the drone, liked to lay by the pool.

Also, if the girls told their father they were disturbed that there was a drone in the neighborhood and then went back outside to sunbathe until it came closer, well...

Face it, we don't know what happened but the whole Peeping Tom thing is total speculation.

A microwave beam would do.

Snagging a drone with a spinning rod could be a lot of fun.
