Well try and use you debit card to buy a cup of coffee to sip at an outdoor coffeehouse while you watch the world go by without the net and see what happens.

If the internet goes, we’ll have to pull up stakes, go west, and get us some internet.

And when you stop to get gas for your trip west and your debit or credit card don’t work?

IF you would like "ON' or "OFF the list FReep Mail me OR ping me in a thread with your request. This will not be a High Volume Ping list (Well at least we hope the INTERNET doesn't quit working frequently)

"So let it be written. So let it be done."

The biggest problem peppers are going to have, early on, is that it won’t be hard at all for nearby zombies to figure our that the peppers have stuff.

We had talked about something like that. Would be nice if it was more convenient access than this would be. But it’s a solid idea for keeping things dry and cozy.

...and if the GPS system is shut off, the other half of the world goes down.

Heck, we don’t even need nukes anymore to get an EMP effect..just disable/shut off a couple of systems.

With a pickle barrel you don’t have to bury it all the way you can leave the top uncovered or even turn it on it’s side and cover it with dirt, leaves, straw or whatever just keep it wet to keep it cool.

Root cellars are good for fresh food storage but they are high in humidity so anything metal, like jar lids, will rust.

What are you trying to store?

You can get some get some 4”pvc and some caps. Glued up it’s completely water tight and you can bury it.

For people doing that, you’ll find that a 14” Chop Saw with an Aluminum Oxide cutting wheel will give PERFECT cuts on 4” PCV (read that in a plumbing book, and verified it on some projects).

Also note that if you bury money or other paper items in PCV, be sure to NOT include any metal objects, so as to make it much more difficult for nosy people on the surface to find.

Finally, make sure you remember where you put it! ...as surface features on the ground can change over time.

Oh, thises and thatses. Maybe some extra canned goods or what have you. Probably some things we wouldn’t like humidity getting to. I’m glad to know about humidity of a root cellar. Being in Florid we kjow a lot about humidity, but not much about cellars. Thank you.

I live on the Texas gulf coast and humidity is a way of life here too.

We’ve had over 60” of rain so far this year. With that kind of rain there aren’t below ground cellars around here either.

No cost to cool is pretty much limited to buried above ground level.

Bury something below ground and you have to anchor it down or it will float when the ground gets saturated.

stash cash . . . Remember rodents, and not the ones in DC

Remember rodents - the cash-eating rodents with tails and the cash-wasting rodents in DC. Protect your cash from both groups of vermin.

If you use the 4” pvc sewer pipe it’s thin enough to cut with any hand saw just make sure you get the right caps to fit sewer pipe.
