WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — An employee at a West Hartford Dunkin Donuts is in hot water after she told a police officer “We don’t serve cops here.”

The officer walked into the busy store at 1234 Farmington Avenue to wait in line to order. As he waited, an employee looked over at the officer and shouted “He didn’t get the message, we don’t serve cops here.”

The officer then left the store followed quickly by the employee herself and the store manager. Both offered apologies to the officer with the employee who shouted the statement saying that she was only joking.

In Cincinnati, a deputy sheriff was just fired for telling everyone a Dunkin Doughnuts did that to him also. Turned out cameras proved he was not in the store.

He was fired and Sheriff did photos and TV news in the store, thanking the store publicly.

I’m pretty sure this was the employee acting on her own.

Could also have been a snarky lib deuce-bag who thought she was just being funny/ironic, since of course everyone knows that cops and DD are joined at the waist, but her joke fell flat.

Basic business etiquette - unless you know the customer very well and have developed a friendly familiarity and repore, don't attempt humor. Smile and do your job. That is all.

I won’t be going to Dunkin Donuts anymore...

Military and Police are 2 of the most important things in our social arena...if you can’t respect them, then you shouldn’t be living in America...

I quit Starbucks, Wendy’s, Taco Bell, and Arbys all for the same reasons...

Solution to that problem is say I spent all your inheritance. Just joking! Not! And laugh! Just joking! Not! Laugh. Children learn early how to play mind games. When our daughter was younger and we were in Applebees for dinner, she was about six and decided she was going to lie down in the booth. Well my husband and I tried the same behavior, it was difficult, hard to do in limited space. But we did just as she was doing. My husband put his head down on the table, moved all the dishes out of the way and splayed his arm out. I slid down on my side of the booth as far as I could without slipping to the floor. It didn't take long, she sat bolt upright, looked at us like we were batsh*t crazy and never did it again. My dad taught me you fight threat with greater threat or in this case, fight stupid with greater more embarrassing stupid. She is older and getting wiser and has always known where Mom and Dad's lines are drawn. Whenever she was doing something we didn't want her doing, we just up and did it bigger, higher, stronger, exaggerated. Worked with her like a charm. My sister and I learned early our parents weren't slaves, waiters and punching bags. Now days that may not work because a lot of people I see relish pushing the envelope, daring anyone to correct them. Those people I pretend are invisible which I can tell gets under their skin. My attention is paid to those deserving it not the ones who think they do or are entitled to it. Check out what this dad did to lead his daughter by example. Too cool for words. This was in 2013. It all started last August when Mackintosh's family was going out for a night of putt-putt, hibachi, and milkshakes, and Mackintosh's daughter refused to wear longer shorts. So, Mackintosh decided he would turn his jeans into a pair of jorts with a length more fitting of Magnum P.I. The daughter ended up getting embarrassed, and now the dad has become an Internet sensation—even bringing his "Daisy Dukes" on a local news broadcast. The fact he wore a "Best Dad Ever" T-shirt gives us our further reason to applaud this man's parenting techniques.

Grrrrr. I never heard of this. It seems like the Internet is/was abuzz with liberals and journalists angry that she lost her job.

It made me pretty angry looking at that picture. My dad is buried there with tens of thousands of other people who served, and I view it as a sacred place.

In her stupid case, play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Tar and feather her entire family, all her friends and burn her neighborhood to the ground..then sell to the mussie slavers. Or something like that.

All the customers ought to have followed the cop out the door immediately. “Don’t serve cops? Then I don’t shop here.”

If the cop was gay, they would have been required to serve him, or face confiscatory fines or threat to the franchise. Perhaps cops should become a protected class....

Connecticut and Massachusetts franchisees have had a long history of recruiting and hiring illegal aliens.

I wonder if this lib, would have the guts to refuse service to a bunch of gang bangers?

This has all the earmarks of a bad joke gone badder. I used to run across smart-asses all the time, the majority of whom meant no harm.

I’d have probably answered with an equally bad joke. “No, I’m here because your boss wanted me to shoot holes in the donuts.”

It was a dumb joke, but I dont think it’s the same as the last incident, where the guy was not actually joking.

People need to seriously lay off the line though. It isn’t even humorous.

Right that was the first thing, the very first thing I was taught: you don’t charge cops for anything.
