MINNETONKA, Minn. (AP) Famous Dave Anderson has rejoined the struggling barbecue restaurant chain that bears his name.
Minnetonka-based Famous Daves of America Inc. says Anderson has returned to the company after a reorganization of the board of directors and executive management team. Interim CEO Adam Wright says Anderson will help rebuild the companys culture and improve the guest experience.
Anderson opened his first restaurant in Hayward, Wisconsin, in 1994. He resigned as chairman in 2004 to lead the Bureau of Indian Affairs under President George W. Bush, and later returned to the company as a spokesman. He resigned last year, citing differences with the management team in place at the time, which has since been revamped.

stopped and had Famous Dave’s I Bozeman Mt over the summer...first time to eat there and I thought it was pretty good...
I have always found it good, although I haven’t eaten at one in 2-3 years. Mainly because I don’t regularly go in the direction of the nearest one to me - 25 miles away.
We love Famous Dave’s and own a teeny piece of it. (I guess that makes us famous too.) Glad to see Dave is back. That will definitely help the company. It’s his vision.
My first experience was in Wichita Falls, TX., several years back, it was yummy and the atmosphere was great. Next one was in Kansas, yuk, that me turned me off Famous Daves. We were so hungry for BBQ, and where else better than Kansas? (except TX.)
We have one locally.
FD is pretty good. We have a local restaurant that is consistently voted best ribs and best crabcakes in Baltimore (rib meat LITERALLY falls off the bone completely -must use fork because you cannot eat it off the bone). Another chain that we have around is famous for BBQ, Red Hot and Blue, but I don’t like it that much at all.
Before FD was here it was a Red River or something like that. I liked that a bit better. They built the place but it didn’t last long.
We have a Famous Daves in Manhattan, KS. They use reheated brisket. There are other places FAR better in our radius.
If ever in Wichita Falls, TX. BE SURE and stop at that one, packed all times of the day.
As long as we are on FOOD & places to eat. If in TEXAS and see Henry's Mexican Restaurant.........STOP and eat. BEST there is anywhere. I'm in OK., and tempted to drive to TX somewhere just to eat there. San Antonia, San Angelo, Galveston and maybe other places.
We’ve eaten at Famous Dave’s all over the country (My wife and I are full-time RV’ers) and consider it our favorite ‘national’ chain. Actually I can’t think of any other BBQ with 180 locations from California to Maine.
Yeah, we know better local mom and pop places around the country, but we’ve never had a bad meal at a Famous Dave’s.
Mr. niteowl77
Had Famous Dave’s in Sioux City and found their smoked meats to be rather delicious. The Spareribs in particular. Mmmmm!
About 4 years ago my wife and I went with a dear friend to the one in our town after church. The osteoarthritis in my knees was so painful that when we went to leave I could barely walk. Our friend went home to get a walker at her house so I could make it to the car. I since went gluten free and the pain is all but gone. We also have a Red Hot and Blue now in town that is better.
What’s the Baltimore BBQ place of which you speak?
PS, have you been to Mission BBQ?
Hardcore American values. They even stop all business at noon to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
Wait and see. if anyone can turn it around, it’s Famous Dave himself.
Our local one used to be a Shoney’s.
Can’t see why they’d replace the management team. Looks like they’ve done a great job in helping investors avoid capital gains taxes.
Congrats on being full time rv’ers. Way to enjoy!
