The correct answer was “Bleeding Heart”.

That is a cacti type of plant, and it’s actually made up of a lot of little heart shaped buds.

I want to get one for my patio - probably next spring.

The Bleeding Heart plant is nothing like a cacti nor related in any way shape or form. It is a spring and early summer-blooming herbaceous perennial.

A similar plant of the spring woodlands is Dutchman’s Breeches.
