A LOT of kids are now graduating from high school unable to write cursive!
My kids go to a high end private school, and by 3rd grade:
-perfect cursive
-multiplication and division mastered
-basic understanding of Latin
-basic understanding of algebra
-basic knowledge of history
-mastery of reading and reading comprehension
-ability to write book reports on what they have read
-working competence in art and awareness of the masters and their associated works and techniques.
-basic fluency in Spanish
-can do 20 push up’s and vigorous cardo
-perfect body weight

Sounds like a great school.
I attended public school in the 40s-—back when public schools taught academics and didn’t fool around with “social justice” issues.
I did well-—but NEVER could have done 20 pushups. Never.:-)

My kids go to a high end private school, and by 3rd grade...
I went through private school, but in 5th grade when we moved from VA to TX, I spent a month or so in public schools because my parent's weren't going to pay a full semester of tuition for a month of school. After about the first week, my public school teacher wanted to have me tested to move up a grade. Since we were leaving, though, my parents said it was just a waste of time.
