It makes me wonder about Foster Brooks on the Dean Martin roast shows. He was hysterically funny playing a drunk but you have to wonder how much of it was acting and how much real.

From what I understand, Foster Brooks did drink in his younger days (before he hit the big time), but quit cold turkey. The fact that so many people wondered whether he was really drunk, or just acting like it, says a lot about how good his routine really was. Other comedians who did a "drunk act" always played it to the extreme - staggering wildly, excessively slurring their words, singing "Sweet Adeline", etc. The genius of Foster Brooks was that he did just the opposite - he played a guy who was obviously drunk, but trying very hard not to let on that he was drunk.

Fallon is another manically depressed comedian who will probably end in suicide.

What a clown!

Leno is a fine man and does lot’s for our society.

He sponsors multiple talented young individuals to learn machining trades and the like at several excellent Trade Schools.

A tremendous amount of skill lies in our dying senior citizens and he’s doing what he can to keep these necessary skills alive.

He also has a good staff of skilled craftsmen rebuilding ancient automobiles so they are not gone forever...

Jay also does not accept ‘grants’ to do this, he IS the ‘grant.’

“And Dean Martin was drinking apple juice, and not scotch usually.”

I always heard that Frank Sinatra spilled more booze then Dean ever drank!

...was spotted in New York City with band aids after injuring his hand at a Harvard party. Jimmy had been 'holding a bottle of Jagermeister' and greeting fans when he tripped over a woman who had bent down in front of him, People reported. He fell and landed on the broken glass. It's the third time the star has been hurt and sources say NBC are worried about the party-loving comedian's drinking.
One difference between Johnny Carson and Jimmy is the kind of crap that gets covered as if it's news. Johnny was reportedly a booze hound and philanderer, and yet ruled late night for 31 years.

And exactly WHY should any of us care about some liberal elite abusing alcohol and drugs?

Some can handle their liquor and some can not. Jimmy needs to lay off the bottle or it will ruin him.

"I always heard that Frank Sinatra spilled more booze then Dean ever drank!"

Yep. Frank and his pals could really knock back the booze.

For fun, check out The Smoking Gun's "Backstage riders" page.

Nowadays, most performers (well, except for Keith Richards) are health conscious.

So you see requests for fresh orange juice, vegetable platters, the like.

Frank's backstage rider has requests for a full bar, with top-shelf liquor.

None of this "fresh white linens, and a flower array", like Elton John.

Frank, Dean, and Sammy would LAUGH at that.

Just bring on the booze, the cigarettes, and the broads.

This explains why Jimmy is half in the bag for Cruz.
