The pupil was given a maths question and then asked to show how he had worked it out, but he took it quite literally and drew his response

Sometimes kids are far smarter than adults give them credit for - and this child is no exception.

It's not clear whether this pupil was try to be deliberately hilarious, or just taking the task at face value in their answer.

But either way they responded to the question brilliantly and his parents shared it online, much to the amusement of Reddit users.

The exam question asks: "Bobby has four dimes. Amy has 30 pennies. Which child has more money?"

To this the kid responded: "Bobby".

The next question says: "How do you know? Show your thinking."

But why does Bobby have more money than Amy? That's sexist! Or maybe Bobby is a greedy capitalist, while Amy is a member of the working class. In that case, the second question should be: How much money should Bobby be forced to give to Amy?

And for the sake of diversity, shouldn't at least one of the people involved be named Muhammad?

I'm quite surprised that this question made it past the censors.

Would have been funnier if he had just drawn Amy crying and himself smiling.

LOL! I'm reminded of my last accounting test in college. A friend of mine got credit for his answer to a question about "throwback rules" for tax losses:

"Six inches for trout, twelve inches for salmon."

It was understood that all graduating seniors would get no worse than a B, it was the professor's practice. I had 30 hours with the same professor: as a sophomore, you were terrified of him, as a junior, you respected him; as a senior, you loved him.

At least that's the way it was for me. I wasn't one of his star students, but he was there when you needed him.

Not only that, but he was considered God on campus: he accounted for about 5% of the undergrad population, and he turned his paycheck back to the university (he had a very successful CPA firm in Spokane, and had 10 kids attend the school...tuition free, of course).

You forgot to add the patented, "Oh!" at the end.

Last week I was going through my second-grade son’s school work when I came across a reading comprehension evaluation. There were five short paragraphs with a straight forward question about the context etc.

After reading the paragraph provided, he had written the appropriate answer to the questions. The next question was, “How did you come to that answer?” and he wrote, “Because I read the story” every time. Thankfully his teacher and school district are sane and didn’t send him to remedial reading class as punishment.

You are maybe just being sarcastic, but I do teach, and believe me, the names that show up in word problems now are definitely “diverse.” The kids even think it is ridiculous.
