Andrew Luck out 2-6 weeks with abdominal injuries
Yahoo Sports ^ | Nov 10, 2015 | Jay Busbee

The Indianapolis Colts, already reeling with injury and performing below expectations, received even more terrible injury news on Tuesday: quarterback Andrew Luck suffered abdominal injury in the team's victory over Denver. Luck is expected to miss two to six weeks.

Colts head coach Chuck Pagano announced the injury on Tuesday afternoon, saying Luck suffered a lacerated kidney and a partially torn abdominal muscle on a fourth-quarter scramble. This is in addition to the report from earlier this season that Luck had been playing with multiple fractured ribs.

The Colts are in a bye week this week, then face the Falcons, Buccaneers, and Steelers before closing out the year with three of four games against AFC South rivals. The Colts, at 4-5, sit only a half-game ahead of the Texans and, amazingly enough, only two games ahead of the Jaguars and Titans. A prolonged absence of Luck could open the door for another team to win what has long been the most slam-dunk division championship in the NFL.

Thank you for that most astute medical observation. What ever would we have done without it!

Oh they’re losers alright. Losers banking on being in a terrible division. They lack both a run game and run defense. They’re under 500 with Luck and Pagano outside the division. They’re on pace this year to win the division under 500. Playing with some of the worst teams in the history of the league lets them gloss over the serious flaws in this team.

Lacerated kidney, pffffft!

Back when I played one game I broke my ankle in the first quarter, just tapped it up and kept going. Broke my throwing arm in the second quarter so they put a splint on it and I threw the rest of the game with my left arm. They took my appendix out at halftime, but I was back for the second half. Fourth quarter I lost my left eye so then only rolled out to the right. Made it kind of hard to throw with my left arm while rolling out to the right, but times was tough back then and we was even tougher. (Yes, I'm joshing)

"[Matt] Hasselbeck got his first start with the Colts on October 4, 2015, filling in for the injured Luck. Hasselbeck led the Colts to an overtime win, defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars 16-13.

After a short week that included Hasselbeck being ill from a bacterial infection, and having virtually no practice time, he was once again called upon to play for Luck.

He became only the second 40 year-old NFL quarterback to win back-to-back games, when he engineered a 27-20 win over the Houston Texans on October 8, 2015.

Over those two starts, he went 48-76 for 3 touchdowns and 0 turnovers."

He plays a very physical game...usually when he runs he doesn’t slide at the end but makes them tackle him. He got thrashed doing this on Sunday.

Last year they beat both the Bengels and the Broncos in the post-season before losing badly to the Pats.

Looks like allowing the offensive lineman to get away in free agency hasn’t worked out so well. It never does. There is a reason left tackle is the second highest paid position in the NFL.

Yeah, the Bengals who haven’t won a playoff game in over 20 years, and the Broncos who had just gone 3 games in a row without Manning throwing a TD. The Colts are good at beating bad teams, and are guaranteed 6 of those games a season, but they falter against teams that don’t stink. They are, at best, a mediocre team. There’s a reason they just fired the OC and the HC has been on the hot seat all season. Although they’re looking in the wrong places, it’s the GM that constructed a team that consists of Andrew Luck and a bunch of hacks. It’s a shame really, they’re wasting a very talented QB by surrounding him with garbage.

They are basically the same Bengels who are 8-0 this season, and basically the same Broncos who were 7-0 before losing to the Colts on Sunday.

Fine, so you’re saying Hasselbeck is the only QB the Colts need on their roster while Luck is out? You’re debating with someone, but not with anything I’ve said.

And there’s a reason none of the talking heads are willing to call the Bengals good until they win a playoff game, so far under Lewis no matter how good the Bengals are in the regular season when they get to the playoffs they stink. And the Broncos are powered by defense this year, Manning is on pace to throw the most INTs of his career, they’re on the bottom half of the league in every offensive stat, they’ve only faced 2 teams with a record over 500.

Reality is reality. And the reality is the Colts are not a good team. Again, look at all the talk about Pagano being on the hot seat before the season even began. Do good teams talk about firing their coach right after getting to the conference finals?

Of course not. I was just pointing out that Hasselbeck is very capable of filling in for a while as a starter.

I'll see if I can find something on what they plan to do for the backup QB issue.

Still searching for their backup QB plan.

In the meantime...

"Matt Hasselbeck could be the Colts' starting quarterback for up to six weeks as Andrew Luck recovers from a lacerated kidney. But his brother, Tim Hasselbeck, doesn't necessarily think that's a good thing.

Tim Hasselbeck expressed concern for his older brother Tuesday on ESPN, saying he thinks it's going to be tough for a 40-year-old quarterback to endure the pounding of six weeks as a starting quarterback in the NFL.

"They have a 40-year-old backup that maybe has to play for six weeks, get you all the way to Week 16 of the NFL season before you potentially get Andrew Luck back, Hasselbeck said, via Pro Football Talk.

"I know my brother played well in the two games he started this season, but I think anyone can attest ... it's one thing when it's a shorter injury and you have a backup that's going to play one week, two weeks, three weeks maybe.

"We're in a situation where they have a 40-year-old quarterback that's potentially going to play half of their football games this year. Half of them!"

Despite his age, Hasselbeck has already started two games for Luck earlier this season, and filled in admirably completing 63.8 percent of his passes for 495 yards and three touchdowns.

You don’t eff with internal organs. Let it go luck - and be thankful you haven’t yet had your brain re-arranged. You’ll be fine in the real world, also.
