” so we compromised. We currently have 4 Chihuahuas”

You’re a hard bargainer to go from one rottie to four Chihuahuas. Could you please take over for John Kerry?

Dogs get given up to the shelter for many reasons, across the board.

Most of them can be placed with patient owners.

The ones given up for dominant aggression, they need mostly to be recycled, as the aggression is always there, unless you are a bigger dog and willing to fight it to death.

My guy really wants a rottie, but that's not happening, so we compromised. We currently have 4 chihuahuas, all shelter rescues.

Lol! Worse problem you could have there are ankle wounds. Unless the little tigers jump up on the bed when you're sleeping. :)

I’m sure you’ve read all the news reports recently how your cat wants nothing more than to kill and devour you. Don’t turn your back on them!

some breeds are bred to be especially aggressive, although it’s clear that, if properly trained and cared for, they can still make excellent house pets.

And don't forget luck. If you have an aggressive breed you need some luck. Even in the best homes with good training, they snap, someone is hurt or dies. Stay away from the obvious aggressive breeds.

Unless this shelter had this dog for only a few hours, they should have noticed the behavior traits, placed him under surveillance and then once the tendency was confirmed, he should have been destroyed. The county will be writing a big check.

We use to call them junk yard dogs. I would take the dog. Out to the woods and make it quick and painless. No breeding for you.

A grown dog we were fostering killed one of my cats. That was the end of fostering. When we recently decided to get another dog we opted for a puppy we can raise as we choose and for a breed that is known for its even temperament.

In like to foster again but we have to spend too much time away and have too many physically compromise family members to do a proper job.

I don’t know how it works in Tennessee, but I am aware of places where animal control facilities are indeed reputable and thoroughly screen animals. I suspect nomenclature differs from place to place.

That’s true at my daughter’s house. She has a very lucid 150 pound bull mastiff and and a very aggressive attack cat.

That’s the best part. When Tig gets under the covers and snuggles with my feet, it’s like I’m wearing fur lined socks!

That should be of obvious concern to anyone with young kids in the house, who like to pull on dogs tails, get in their faces, slap them in the head, bother them when they're eating, etc.

I think Obama needs a new dog.

I'm afraid to ask: what happened to the ...last one?

 photo Obama dog meat 01_zpscavl29lu.jpg

"The Daily Caller noted that in President Obama"s best-selling memoir, Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance, the president recalls being fed dog meat as a young boy in Indonesia with his stepfather, Lolo Soetoro.

"With Lolo, I learned how to eat small green chill peppers raw with dinner (plenty of rice), and, away from the dinner table, I was introduced to dog meat (tough), snake meat (tougher), and roasted grasshopper (crunchy)," the president wrote. "Like many Indonesians, Lolo followed a brand of Islam that could make room for the remnants of more ancient animist and Hindu faiths.

He explained that a man took on the powers of whatever he ate: One day soon, he promised, he would bring home a piece of tiger meat for us to share.""

my two current dogs are rescues a Pomeranian and jack rustle mix. one I found wandering around lose and the other was given to me after being found loose on the streets. before theses two I had gotten one from the county shelter.one month after getting it the dog Attacked my room mate took a chunk of flesh off his hind leg. there was no warning one moment the dogs tail was waging and he was being petted then My roommate turned and started to walk away and was attacked. I took the dog back to the Shelter and only found out then that the dog had been turned in for being aggressive 3 times before this...When ever you get a stray or rescue watch the dog because you really don’t know its history and like people there are good dogs and bad dogs and there behavior is pretty much dictated by there experience with there privies owners and that can turn any dog into bad dog dangerous to be around.

Idiots glorify and idealize animals, raising them over people to noble creatures.
