Starving Cancer: Ketogenic Diet a Key to Recovery

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vYxOztmmfM

This video is one in a series of videos and websites which are being posted on FreeRepublic in the coming days in regard to nutritional health. In the beginning these videos were being posted as a rebuttal to an article and comments in another posted article on FreeRepublic remarking on obesity. Due to the strong interest in obesity and nutritional health as it relates to Type II Diabetes, the videos relating to Type II diabetes and how to reverse the progression of the disease are being moved forward among the other video topics in this series. Expect to see a mixture of videos regarding the role of carbohydrates in the diet and their relationship to nutritional health topics ranging from metabolic syndrome and Diabetes to dementia, Parkinson's Disease, Altzheimer's Disease, and more. The effects of standard government sponsored diets, health association diets, and alternative diets upon everyday nutrition, sports nutrition, and diabetic nutrition will be mixed in with videos focused on the use of various low carbohydrate and high fat (LCHF) diets, such as the ketogenic diets as a treatment for Type II Diabetes.

Anyone who is interested in following this series of posts about nutritional health is invited to request a ping.

Sounds promising. Chemotherapy, poison that hopefully kills cancer cells and not other cells, always seemed strange to me. Sorta like leaches or blood letting from a 100 years ago.

Chemo is far more targeted than it used to be.

As with all treatments nothing is with issue, in fact the term side effect is fallacious all medicines have EFFECTS some are wanted and some are not but all are just effects

Thanks for posting. I decided on Gerson and supplements over keto for the simple fact that organic fruits and veggies are cheaper than organic meats and cheeses. Plus, I can grow a lot of my own. I’m basically a soy-free, wheat-free vegan. Gerson doesn’t allow salt and a few fruits and veggies, but I’m still eating them. I’m also not eating as much raw as his protocol indicates. I’m taking supplements that have shown Cancer fighting ability and I do H2O2 therapy. Most importantly I pray! I keep getting good test results, and I keep telling the onc no when he tells me I need chemo. In fact, I meet with him tomorrow morning to tell him no about exploratory surgery. Wish me luck!

The effectiveness of chemotherapy varies widely based on the type of chemo, the type of cancer, and the stage of progression. However, there certainly are targeted treatments available now which, for example, do not cause hair loss. Unfortunately, those targeted treatments sometimes work best when combined with more traditional chemo which carries more side effects. The new treatments which I’m aware of block certain receptors in cancer cells, so the cancer can not absorb proteins upon which it seems to depend.

Go to the website: www.askapatient.com

Everyone should check the side effects of all their medications. Shock, your doctor, more than likely is clueless and denies it’s a side effect!

I was on the Atkins diet 17 years ago and dropped 20 pounds. Of course it came back because I crave the carbs. This Ketogenic diet is making the internet rounds lately, so I went back on the Atkins last Wednesday. I started at 245# and today, Tuesday, 6 days later I am 237#. This is a very easy diet to do. Bacon and eggs, kielbasa, pulled pork on a bed of lettuce with blue cheese dressing, sugar free fudge made with stevia...and I still lose weight every day. Once I hit my goal I will go off the induction phase and do an Atkins maintenance diet. It works, but today my butt is dragging a little. They say if you eat carbs, you burn carbs. If you eat fat, you will burn fat. Right now, my tongue and roof of mouth are kinda warm...I am in fat burning mode, Ketosis!

“I decided on Gerson and supplements over keto for the simple fact that organic fruits and veggies are cheaper than organic meats and cheeses.”

Note, it is a misconception that the ketogenic diet is somehow a lot of meat in the diet. On the contrary, maintenance of ketosis at an effective level means sharply reducing intakes of meat, fish, poultry and other sources of protein. For example, some ketogenic diets may divide the daily caloric diet into 80% fat, 15% protein, and 5% carbohydrates. The 15% fat may translate for some people into only some 75 grams of protein per day, or somewhere in the neighborhood of about 4oz to 6oz. of meat, fish, or poultry per meal once or twice per day.

“Kill ‘em with bacon?”

No, it is a misconception. The diet actually reduces the amounts of meat for most people, those who are not vegans for example. When you are limiting proteins to only around 15% of the daily calories, you are only getting around 75 grams of protein per day or about a 1/2 pound +/- some per day of meat,, fish, or poultry. Too much protein can result in the excess being converted to glucose that is enough to stop ketosis, the burning of ketones for fuel, and resumes the burning of glucose that causes the inflammation and free radicals.
