I had read about Art Bell for years, but never listened to him.
A couple of months ago, one radio station that I listen to via Internet late night started his program. It was interesting at times and way out there at other times.
I am sorry to hear he is leaving.
Well that just sucks.

I think the facts that you are boring and your primary guest, “Major” Ed Dames, is a fake might be two reasons for calling it quits.
If you want safety, then move to a big city, get a local radio job and do what we all do: be safe and have military friends.
Art Bell was good on ‘Coast to Coast’. I loved listening to him when I worked the graveyard shift. Now WFLA has repeats of Art Bell’s shows, which is called ‘Somewhere in Time’.
For the last several weeks 70-year-old radio legend Art Bell has been shot at, twice, by some crazy person who’s bound and determined to force Bell to stop doing his show. The last incident was just a few days ago; Bell was on his way to his studio when shots rang out. Bell was forced to lie in the dirt on his belly until the police showed up.
For several nights over the last few weeks, his frightened family members have been forced to sleep on the floor instead of in their beds as a means to ensure their safety, which is nothing short of horrible. Bell issued the following statement over on his website, ArtBell.com:

How crass! Hoagland is pushing for subscriptions and an email campaign to Keith Roland to put his useless show in the art bell slot.
