I recommend a novel titled “Waking the Moon” It is fiction but goes into all the mysteries of Crete. Even the Illuminati are covered.

The most fascinating character is Angelica who starts out as just a strikingly beautiful girl. She then metamorphoses into the ancient moon goddess of Crete.
