Tonight I'll entertain our troops at the FReeper Canteen.
Home alone with my four kitties and a killer headcold. Makes me grumpy but life could be a lot worse. Merry Christmas to all the FReepers this Christmas Eve!
Look on the bright side. Christmas with your daughter tomorrow. Christ is coming to us tonight. We are less alone tonight than any other night of the year.
I am going to be heading out to Midnight Mass and so am planning to brew some coffee to stay awake.
There is an Old Time Christmas Radio Show thread here on FR.
This is a great night on tv. NBC is showing “It’s a Wonderful Life” in primetime and then Midnight Mass from the Vatican later. “The Bishop’s Wife” is on TCM. On EWTN at 10:30 Eastern time, Christmas Eve Mass from the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC.
Merry Christmas Eve to you. I’ve spent Christmas alone for several years now and always enjoy the solitude and reflection on the miracle of our Lord. (All family is out of state and somewhat disconnected.) My days are spent in the junior high classroom so I truly look forward to this time. Will head out to midnight Mass soon and will say a prayer for you and all FReepers. This site keeps me well-informed and laughing...a gift to cherish:)
Pinging you to this thread because you recently posted on the other one.
I hope all is well with both of you. Merry Christmas!

Not entirely alone, but almost. The only thing special is my traditional Christmas dinner of shrimp-and-crawfish gumbo. Then, I’ll spend at least an hour sitting back and listening to some old-time jazz recordings. Followed by putting in a dvd-disc and watching some beautifully creaky old B-western from the days of the early talkies. Top it off by sifting through my vintage magazine collection, and maybe listen to an old 1940s-era radio show, or some such endeavor. Anything, however fleetingly, to help me forget what a hellishly sick and perverted culture that this nation has devolved down into. I live for those moments.
Have to work tomorrow...up at 0415.
Merry Christmas!!
Watch some old videotape of old Christmases from the 90s.
Alone in my thoughts. Realizing how much time has passed, how many people are no longer here, and hoping for better days.
Alone again (naturally)
The Christmas/NewYears school break us fairly long.
Consider revising to split the break in 1/2 and Alternating the front/back half.
This schedule allows for longer plans to be made.
For those who want to watch a good movie.
Fact-based World War II story set on Christmas Eve, 1944, finds a German Mother and her son seeking refuge in a cabin on the war front. When she is invaded by three American soldiers and then three German soldiers, she successfully convinces the soldiers to put aside their differences for one evening and share a Christmas dinner.

Merry Christmas to you sir!! I always enjoy a cigar and a bourbon when I’m alone. Try it.
Everybody is sick. Everyone agreed that it would be best to stay at home.
I am spending the evening alone...and so grateful, have been so busy with work, the house is a disaster (clothes, papers, gifts to be wrapped, etc.) and I don’t have to do anything about it right now and no one is here to complain..ha.
I got off work at noon and began my Christmas shopping early at 2 in the afternoon..it was crowded, next year I may have to do it earlier (maybe noon on Christmas eve).ha.
Doggie and I had choice cheeseburger ( great ground beef on grilled bagel). Tommorrow my doggie was invited to Christmas Breakfast at her furry friends, Beau and Lucy. I’m going along. Friends we know, totally laid back..no pretense,no “forced gaity”..just the three of us and the three doggies.
The day after Christmas I will do my annual Christmas ritual, buying two new cashmere sweaters on sale...I have already done reconnaissance last week at the stores.
I am very grateful tonight for having a nice little house with a fenced yard in the greatest country in the world, a wonderful cannine companion, good food and a couple new books to read...and health is good.
Merry Christmas!
Sort of.
Sister #2 and I went to a candlelight service earlier this evening. I drove because she doesn’t see well enough to drive when it gets dark.
Tomorrow, we’ll meet up at a local restaurant for lunch and gift exchange. We’ll use their WiFi to Skype with sister #1 in Missouri, and hopefully with my nephew, his wife and their one year old boy in Brussels.
Tonight? I got you guys.
So enjoying this thread. Merry Christmas to kindred spirits!
