Google maps and the Rio Grande

Posted on 01/01/2016 6:55:25 PM PST by Smellin Salt

I don't know why this came as a shock to me, but I was looking at Google maps and noticed that the Rio Grande, the river that is the border between Texas and Mexico, was labelled as Rio Bravo. North of El Paso, where the river cuts through New Mexico, it's labelled as the Rio Grande. Further investigation revealed that the Mexican name for the river is Rio Bravo. So, surprise surprise, Google is pandering to the left and it's illegal minions.

“the Google ads during the New Years Eve broadcasts last night”

I saw one, it was HORRENDOUS.

Completely offensive in every possible way. Thanks for mentioning it.

No need to worry until they start calling it "Macho Grande"

Had to ponder that for a few minutes. Then I remembered.

Great reference! Haven't seen those Zucker flicks in a dog's age. The cable channels just can't find the time to air classics in between the phony CSI cop shows, cooking classes, infomercials and the endless save the [insert cause] heart string yanking.

About as much sense as Michigan City being in Indiana or Kansas city being in Missouri.

Three movies!
Rio Bravo
El Dorado
Rio Lobo.
All with the same script same director, and same plot staring the same person.

Rio Grande was an older completely different film and much better than these three.

Thanks for letting me know I’m not the only one who was amazed by them - disgusting and frightening when you remember all the influence Google has these days....

My Mexican wife calls me “bolillo” means white bread but is a mild insult.
