Was there a way to block their Obama type of spyware on windows 10 yet or is it all spyware still?

“Windows 7 runs on 55% of all the computers on the planet . . . “

Absolutely false statement by the author. Might be sorta, kinda accurate for personal computers, maybe.

So, I guess the sales for Win10 are not going so good ..??

My Win7 is doing just fine .. and I cannot be threatened into going to Win10 .. which I don’t need. And .. if MS is not strong enough to support more than one product; maybe they’re not the hot shots I always thought they were.

Of course, if you buy a new computer, it will come with Win10.

Apparently OFFICIAL FUD. . .

The FUD looks to be unofficial. While the MS spokesman expresses concerns about hardware and software compatibility issues going forward, I can't find anywhere in the article where he says Windows 7 has "serious problems".

there are ways to limit or stop windows 7- there seems to be no way to stop windows 10 from doing so- There are steps you can take, many settings to hunt down and disabled I n win 10- but even when you shut off all such stuff- MS still spies and there’s nothing that can be done to stop it- I believe in windows 7 you are, for now, able to completely stop any such crap from MS

[[I am certain they are under fedgov pressure to do this.]]

True, but they also want to do so for their own purposes too I’m sure

Ten years old? I bought my computer in 2008 and it came with Vista.

That alone should show that everything coming out of this guy's mouth is questionable marketing speak. He really doesn't know anything factual, only spin.

Only by going through it by hand and turning each off individuals. . . and the next update will turn it all back on.

Yeah, that’s Microsoft’s use of base six coming through.

Well, you could run various versions of Linux and then there are several open Office varieties that will load and save MS Office files. I am not certain how Wine (a limited Linux single app emulation of Windows) will do with running the latest version of MS Office but it's worth a try.

The real problem is all the specialty vertical solution software out there that will only work on Windows. It is highly unlikely to work on Linux even under Wine. There you'd have to use something Apple's OS X on a Mac running a virtual machine running a single instance of Windows just to run the vertical solution software ONLY in a sandbox, not allowed to connect to the Internet, leaving all else on the Mac side. You could try building a Hackintosh on your PC hardware, but only certain configurations of PCs are capable of being converted to Hackintoshes.

Why would the guys who write laws male one prohibiting the use tools from doing their bidding? Seems like mixed messages.

The other possibility, if he has PC hardware but not Mac hardware, is to run Linux on the hardware, and run a Windows virtual machine on that. I personally prefer the free Xen VM hypervisor, but less techie-intense, free solutions are available such as Virtual Box.
