"CNN is reporting that Ben Carson will stop campaigning after Iowa. Make sure to tell all of your peers at the caucus supporting Carson that they should coalesce around the true conservative who will be in the race for the long haul: TED C
BEN CARSON: âA culture exists within the Cruz camp that would allow people to take advantage of a situation like this in a very dishonest way. Isn't this the same thing we see with the Obama administration, the IRS scandal? No responsibility. ((EDIT)) They were awfully anxious to get it out there, weren't they?â
But the Cruz campaign is also wrong and Senator Cruz should take disciplinary action against some of his staff.
However, that may not happen:
RICK TYLER, COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR FOR TED CUZ: âWe simply as a campaign repeated what Ben Carson had said in his own words. He said after Iowa he was going to go back to Florida for a couple of days and then he was going to go to D.C. to the prayer breakfast. And what that told us was he was not going to New Hampshire.â
But again, Carson had events booked in New Hampshire, so come on.
As far as CNN is concerned, it is standing behind its initial report, which is ludicrous.
That news agency screwed up big time and apparently doesn't care.
Talking Points has said it many times. The state of American journalism is on the verge of collapse.
Ideology has permeated hard news coverage and honest reporting is becoming almost scarce, especially in political circles.
CNN should apologize. Ted Cruz should take some action. And this should never again happen.
The Carson campaign was damaged by erroneous information, period.
And that's the memo.

Whoa! Sure glad I’m sitting down. REALLY?! I’d have just about paid money to see that. (LOL Ewww)
:-) I knew what you meant re Cruz instead of Rove.
Why did it shock you? Rove would sell his own mother out if it meant getting HIS GOPe guy into the White House. They have absolutely NO FEAR of Donald Trump running against Rubio....Cruz is another matter.
Really, you want to compare a mailer to a serial rapist and and 2 murders?
Cruz and Rubio’s campaigns both campaigned for votes using the breaking news story from CNN. It is ethical and legal to campaign for voters at a caucus to change their votes based on a breaking news story. The sad thing is that Carson’s campaigns press release which was reported on by CNN gave the strong impression that he was suspending his campaign when apparently that is not the case.
We simply as a campaign repeated what Ben Carson had said in his own words. He said after Iowa he was going to go back to Florida for a couple of days and then he was going to go to D.C. to the prayer breakfast.Patently untrue. They repeated what CNN said, not Ben Carson.
“My theory is the Rubio Campaign came up with this.”
I’m not discounting your theory, Nateman, but without written proof there’s not as much chance of including Rubio. As I included in the excerpt . . the note was sent out and signed by Cruz. That is damaging.
I am sorry , but the âkurfllufilâ belongs to Carson.
REally. Really, who the heck on the night of voting announces any freakinâ change in schedule. Let alone...âgoing home to Florida.â
Give me an eff*&%% break here. What Carson announced to CNN should have waited until after voting. REEEEEEALLY. Who the heck is his campaign manager....they are the ones who screwed up
We’re all being ruthlessly manipulated and in the end the GOPe will succeed in taking out both Cruz and Trump because people can’t train their fire at the real enemy and focus on each other, including Cruz and Trump!
As I said elsewhere, I don’t trust Cruz or Trump, but this whole thing is silly. Would anyone really fall for what somebody tweeted or said prior to a caucus? Where are all these people who supposedly were tricked into changing their vote? I haven’t heard of even one person stepping up so far. If someone did get fooled by this stunt, wouldn’t the fact that there was a Carson spokesman at each caucus let them know that Carson was still in the race? And Carson did better than the polls said he would, so it must not have hurt him much.
Yeah, some of the people working on the Cruz campaign are real jerks, but having volunteered once on a senate campaign for someone, I can say that most of the people in politics are sleazy jerks.
I am bothered more by Cruz randomly tossing out Bible verses without their having any connection to what he is saying. It’s pure pandering.
As for Trump, what is the deal with his pandering? Ethanol, telling kids at a community college that the government has to help kids with student loan debt, and another time saying that he thinks some in the GOP would just let people die from lack of health care?
A pox on all of them. I think I’ll move to some cave. Every election politicians promise the same things and say whatever people want to hear, and then do nothing once in office. Voters are suckers.
Exactly, the Carson campaign should be rapping itself for running a campaign as if they were running for JR high class President.
They speak stupidly to CNN (who the hell goes “home” for clothes in the middle of a campaign?), and everyone draws the reasonable conclusion that he’s dropping out. If there is a crime, it’s in Carson taking all that money and wasting it on what amounts to a book tour.
There was nothing sleazy about making sure potential Carson voters knew about the news reports that their guy was going home to Florida rather than continuing on to campaign in NH and SC. It is perfectly legal and expected in a caucus to lobby voters to switch their votes to your candidate. Cruz’s people believed based on the CNN reports that Carson was either about to suspend his campaign or at least quit actively campaigning. Thus they urged Carson supporters to support a conservative candidate who was going to fight for the nomination rather than wasting their votes. There is nothing unethical in that.
“The sad thing is that Carsonâs campaigns press release which was reported on by CNN gave the strong impression that he was suspending his campaign when apparently that is not the case.”
Honestly, dschapin, have you ever in the history of politics heard of a candidate suspending their campaign in the middle of a caucus??? Who would do that??? It defies common sense. Cruz should have known that and checked with Carson first . . but Cruz already knew it wasn’t true that Carson was quitting after Chris Moody sent the two tweets, within mere minutes of the first ones . . that Carson was not quitting.
Ben Carson is coming off as a pathetic character. No dirty tricks here Ben, stop crying.
Who knows what Carson is doing from day to day and from minute to minute? He’s certainly not running a normal campaign and nobody (probably not even him) thinks he can win or should win. If Carson’s campaign was dumb enough to say that sort of stuff to CNN, they deserved what they had coming their way.
