I have enough work to hire a few employees which I’ve done in past companies. The government already makes that unattractive in many ways. I have one job right now where I could replace about 5 H1B contractors with 3 of my contractors. I’ve been going back and forth for 6 months on if it’s worth it but so far haven’t.
Bernie’s tax rates even more unattractive. If I had 2-3 employees he’d be taking 40% of every dollar I make off them. It’s already hard enough to explain how I charge the client $X/hour and the employee gets $(X-Y)/hour. They think my profit is Y and don’t understand their FICA and “my” FICA and UI and other costs come out of Y. And then the government is going to take at least 1/3 of my profit. So even though $Y looks big to them I’m not able to buy Ferrari - I can cover the cost of gas & insurance for my 2001 mini-van. I could double Y (like my competitors) and make more but then I feel guilty and also frustrated with how much the government takes every month. That was worth it to me 10 years ago but now I just want some income until I retire.
Anyone who wants to reduce H1Bs should
1) Make it easier for people like me to hire US citizens AND to profit from it
2) Teach kids how taxes work (FICA matching is NOT paid from employer profits - employees would get more without it in most large and small companies.)
3) Teach kids a work ethic. Most are good. But it’s risky hiring a new grad. They’re often brilliant and want to learn and do the job. Some are “brilliant” and “know better” than everyone else and have “more important things to do” than deliver on time.
Reduce H-1B quotas to zero. Kill it.
The obvious benefit of Sanders' tax reform is that it would help eliminate what's been a fairly large federal budget deficit in Washington since the recession.
Whoever did the analysis for them is smoking milkweed. FedGov has no intention or history of living within its means. A $10T windfall will mean $20T of new spending.
I also find the implied guilt of Bush interesting - why did they not align the economic malaise sandwich with Obama's reign of error?
You mean like 0bama has been handcuffed by Kongress?
If Congress rolls over and goes along with his proposals he'll collapse the whole economy. Businesses will fail due to over-regulation and taxes. Corporations will flee the country, as will the rich. Government will take over the energy, education, and medical businesses.
Here I agree with you, but you say this like these are bad things (and to us they are extremely bad things); however, these are the goals of the left. To them this is what they want.
I assume the Chicago Mob will leave Burney some crib notes on issuing “executive orders”
“They all look like they need nose rings.”
They probably have other things pierced.
