This really getting old. (Vanity)

Posted on 02/09/2016 9:15:26 AM PST by andy1954

Most on here know by now I am supporting Marco Rubio for the Republican nominee.

In the process I am finding some rather remarkable talking points that are completely useless.

1. Voting for anyone other than Trump or Cruz will cause a permanent democratic majority. This is nonsense and anyone that has participated in this process knows it. 2. Some how Cruz can over come his 'likability' issue in the U.S. Senate and even in his home state (I am a Texan) 3. That Donald Trump really is a conservative. Nonsense. He is totally unpredictable. And really could implode in a General Election Has unfavorably ratings higher than Clinton. 4. Not voting is a valid position to take if Trump or Cruz are not the nominee. That somehow it will show them a lesson or will in the long run help the conservative movement. Hello President Obama. 5. That millions of evangelical Christians and far right conservatives will raise up to support Ted Cruz. I hope I a wrong about this, but it is nonsense in my opinion. Many evangelicals don't vote because of their world view, they just don't think it matters and the earth's days are number anyway. Far right conservatives that 'really' don't vote are not that many. I know there are plenty on this site, but that really is not that many. 6. The immigration issue will hurt us in the General Election. Only if we take such a hard line as Trump that we lose the entire Hispanic vote.

Those are the Establishment talking points as well as the assaults by other campaigns as we all know. The Establishment in Washington began these assaults as soon Ted Cruz arrived in Washington when he refused to bow to their agendas....in fact he called them out and revealed them for who they are.

However it is up to voters to decide if they vote substance , consistency and truth...or they ignore the candidates record and go by the shape shifting of these campaigns as the media depicts and frames them according to their agenda of pre-selecting who the voters should vote for.

Ditto. Rubio is unacceptable to me because he is pro-amnesty. If we had a congress who would stand up to him, I could probably tolerate his waywardness on this issue. However, with spineless RINOs like McConnell and Ryan running things, the gang of 8 immigration plans will have clear sailing. Too bad. He is likeable and young, but amnesty is a major deal-breaker for me.

Mexican Leaders, like Jorge Ramos, would prefer their Rube to be our president!

Rubio promises to keep Obama's executive amnesty for Dreamers:

In a little-noticed interview earlier this year with Univision Jorge Ramos, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) declared that, as President, he would keep Barack Obama executive amnesty for DREAMers in place until it was permanently codified through legislation.

Jorge Ramos is the Univision Open Borders Rectum, who was thrown out of a presser by Trump last year.

Well I guess that was a bit presumptuous to say the least. Most of the people I have been talking to in the last couple of months know. Yes, I am a n00b on this site. Years ago I used to talk and post quite a bit. But I grew tired of it for a season. Years ago, new computer and will I just started over. Been messing around in the political scene for many years. I am an old white, bald male, 61 years old. I have heard and seen it all. I am not Trumpbot. He is just not a conservative and I think he could go off at anytime to a place I do not want to go. He is truly scary.

Well I’m in Louie Gohmert territory and Cruz has gone up here and every part of Texas I visit.

Like another posted noted, Cruz is polling better in Floridah than Rubio or Yeb.

Count on pushing your guy’s positives. No one is ever sold on a negative about competition, especially an imaginary one.

Excellent points. I did read that Rubio gives the exact same stump speech at all his events. That would be uninspiring at best.

Still there is something strange about his repetitions. Clearly when he starts into one he doesn’t realize he’s repeating something he just said. When it registers, he doesn’t do the political, ‘yes, I’m repeating myself, but this is important,’ routine. If allowed, he just plows on.

I suspect its tied to the water sipping. He’s nervous, and for some reason the repetitions calm him. When I said benign Tourettes, I was joking. My OCD comment, however, was quite serious.

6. The immigration issue will hurt us in the General Election. Only if we take such a hard line as Trump that we lose the entire Hispanic vote.

Utter fiction. And unlike you, rather than making unsupported statements, I will provide direct electorate evidence:

Proposition 227, California (1988), ending bilingual education passed by a massive margin 61.2% to 38.7%, with majorities in virtually every demographic.

Proposition 187, California (1994), ending benefits for illegals also passed with a wide margin, 58.9% to 41.0%, with the only holdout area of the state being the San Francisco bay area.

Of course, most of it was gutted by the courts.

Defending the laws is one place where Republicans usually shine in elections; those who are promoting that viewpoint have been leaders in the Republican field and in national polling.

You have been a member for less then three months. I think it is safe to say that most on here have not the slightest idea who you are much less who you are supporting for the nominee.

Now here is my response to your post:

The thing that bothers me about Rubio:

01. ) Whenever he is going to be interviewed on one of the MSM talk shows, he gets this ridiculous, phony smile on his face like it is frozen there. I do not know about anyone else but to me it shows insincerity. The frozen smile on his face is not genuine.

02. ) Pro-amnesty. No way, Jose!
