‘Outrageous’: Glenn Beck Responds to Media Accusations
The Blaze ^ | 02/18/2016 | Tré Goins-Phillips

Glenn Beck, who has been in South Carolina campaigning for Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz this week, called in to his eponymous radio program Tuesday to talk about the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. What he said garnered a strong reaction from the media, which he is now calling “outrageous.”

Beck’s radio show co-host Pat Gray could not wrap his mind around why God would allow Scalia to have passed away in a moment when the U.S. is so divided politically. Beck, hoping to provide an answer, called into The Glenn Beck Radio Program from the road to explain his view.

~snip~

Shortly after his radio show ended, several media outlets — including Mediaite, Raw Story and CNN — reported that Beck said “God killed Scalia” — a claim the radio show host pushed back against strongly late Wednesday night.

“Apparently the [mainstream media] is reporting that I said ‘God killed Scalia to help Ted Cruz.’ Outrageous,” Beck wrote in a Facebook note. “What I did say is ‘perhaps God allowed Scalia to die at this time to wake America up to how close we are to the loss of our freedom.’”

Beck went on to write that he believes in “divine providence,” something he says Americans have historically endorsed, which he uses as the linchpin for his argument that God might have “allowed Scalia to die.”

So Trump said 9/11 happened on W’s watch (true) but that’s twisted into “Trump blames Bush for 9/11,” but Beck saying that God “allowed” Scalia to die to get Cruz is outrageous. Uh huh.

Someone is swallowing something, and it ain’t a hook, line, and sinker.

Beck said exactly what he meant, that God took out Scalia to give us Cruz. Do everyone a favor and at least admit it.

>>Plenty, but only after you explain why Cruz

Done.

Now your enumerations of the ideological foundations Trump’s moral framework(s) please?

(feel free to cite historical behavior that demonstrates those beliefs as well...)

[Trump reportedly ripped out fistfuls of Ivana’s hair and stripped her naked. “Then he jams his penis inside her for the first time in more than sixteen months. Ivana is terrified...It is a violent assault,” Hurt writes. “According to versions she repeats to some of her closest confidantes, ‘he raped me.’ “]

Did Der Trumpenflipper sue Tucker Carlson?

Evidently not.

Ivana was Wife #1 of 3, IIRC.

Matt 19:6
"So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

What does this mean?

I really enjoyed his show on Foxnews a few years ago. His antics lately are very odd. He’s a totally different man.

This election is about a lot of things, the immigration issue is just one, though a hot one.
But “the establishment” is all about their donors, not their strategy.
The establishment is out of touch at many levels; I don’t think there are any long term thinkers there.
Nobody in the Republican or conservative establishment is even trying to court the Hispanic vote. They have zero outreach, zero propaganda and marketing, zero communication into that community. They simply aren’t even trying to court them. And for that matter the Asian vote also.
That there are Hispanic and Asian Republicans is purely an individual, accidental phenomenon.

I agree. Glenn kids around and says thinks on his show sort of in gest, thinks out loud in a way. I heard his show and I think this was blown way out of proportion. From now on I’ll do what Reagan said, trust but verify. This was even on Drudge.

I know he’s not popular here, but just wanted to get my 2 cents in.

The GOP is indeed courting the Hispanic vote and the Catholic vote... Jeb and Rubio and Cruz and Katich, all are appealing to that group. It is the election issue 'Open Borders', the GOP way.

I just heard the Latinos are demonstrating in Madison WI today... Think Pappy Francis is not trying to play religious politics in this election?

No they aren’t.
Jeb and Rubio and Cruz have next to zero visibility in Spanish language media. There are hardly any Republican supported Hispanic candidates for lower offices. There is no organization in the “grass roots”.
They are “ courting the Hispanic vote” stupidly, I.e. not at all. They just don’t get it. The only Hispanic participation they get in politics is when Hispanic individuals walk in to a “white” organization. They really, really don’t try.
And Asians likewise.

Heck, Trump will get more Hispanic votes than any of those guys just because more Hispanic voters know who he is.
It’s pathetic.

I cannot find the ‘voter guide’ sent out as to who is acceptable for the Catholic vote... it was posted here weeks back.

I read it.....Beck’s understanding of God is distorted at best

What is being distorted is what Beck said. His quote from the article is this:
“What I did say is ‘perhaps God allowed Scalia to die at this time to wake America up to how close we are to the loss of our freedom.’” He is speculating, not asserting as some here have suggested. Big difference.

Not defending Beck’s faith (I believe he is a Mormon, I am not), but the quote above lines up quite nicely with the thought contained in the bible verse from Romans I cited earlier. And it also lines up with what Job came to discover about God as a result of his ordeals—that God is sovereign, His will is perfect and it is for us to come to an understanding of the events taking place all around us, to realize that they are His unfolding perfect will and are in keeping with His perfect character. Beck’s speculation is nothing more than an attempt at doing that.
