DES MOINES, Iowa -- The smell of bacon filled the air downtown Des Moines on Saturday.
Hundreds of people flocked to the Iowa Events Center for the 9th Annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival.
Bacon lovers could try all sorts of bacon, and attend bacon lectures, bacon competitions, and the annual Bacon Queen contest.
This year's theme is "Body By Bacon," and guests were encouraged to dress up in 1980's attire.
"This is our fourth time to bacon fest," Adam Boge said. "We've been here when it was hard to buy tickets, now it's not so hard to buy tickets but it's great to start early to have a ton of fun."

Yes,they tasted worse than they sound.
I am sure the Muslim students at Iowa State and the University of Iowa and their left wing allies among the rest of the students and faculty will soon be leading protests against this event. I wonder if they serve bacon at any of the public or private colleges in Iowa.
Only hundreds? What is wrong with you people?
You need to spend a month in Germany to rehab!...........Beer,Bacon, Brats,Broads,Bavaria!......-

Actual attendance is around 14,000.
I guess all those Chris Christie campaign appearances led to something worthwhile...
Try Bacon gravy over biscuits. Make it just like sausage gravy, buy use bacon and bacon drippings. Crumble the cooked bacon back into the gravy. Sometimes I add a little Lawry’s seasoning salt and stir in a tablespoon of butter.
Also good over white rice or buttered toast.
I have to travel to Penang, Malaysia from time to time and ran into the same thing. BUT the breakfast at the Equatorial Hotel was fantastic. It was a mix of Malaysian, Chinese and Japanese food in a buffet. No pork though.

Former Food network winner Seonkyong Longest (Korean GI wife),
