Why would Mitt Romney go on national television and declare, "I think we have good reason to believe that there's a bombshell in Donald Trump's taxes. Either he's not anywhere near as wealthy as he says he is, or he hasn't been paying the kind of taxes we would expect him to pay"? Since when does buttoned-down, white-bread Mitt Romney make audacious, provocative accusations? Romney's accusation might be a safe bet â if not to be verified, then to never be refuted. Just a few years ago, Trump refused to release un-redacted tax returns, even when it could help him win a $5 billion libel lawsuit against a New York Times reporter and author. If Trump was unwilling to release his returns in that circumstance, how likely is it that Trump will release them before Election Day? Just for your info, tax returns have 0 to do w/ someone's net worth. I have already filed my financial statements w/ FEC. They are great! â Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 25, 2016 Trump's wealth is a key part of his public image, his status in the eyes of his fans, and his self-image. On July 15, Trump issued a statement declaring, "As of this date, Mr. Trump's net worth is in excess of TEN BILLION DOLLARS." (Capital letters in original.)

I think he did.
It means he’s a fraud
“Wow..I have to say, there are quite a few Trump haters on FR, but I think you qualify to sit on the Board of Directors.”
Nope. *El Nacho libre* easily takes the cake with its last post. Yep. Trump and his supporters want to commit mass suicide.
“They’d like to turn the USA into Jonestown, too.”
“So you admit you fancy Bloomberg, eh?”
Not remotely. Bloomberg is an ass. Where on Earth did you get that silliness? I was quoting Trump who said:
“I support the ban on assault weapons and I support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun.”
Source: The America We Deserve, by Donald Trump, p.102
I do agree, however, that Trump sounds an awful lot like his fellow gun-grabber Bloomberg.
“Where is it written that a candidate for President either must have or will have money to run for the job?”
Nowhere, of course.
It is ONLY relevant because Trump claims to be the best businessman in the world, best negotiator, etc.
And, the fact, is, he’s made a small fortune the old fashioned way -— starting with a large one and dwindling it down.
I have started thinking that Romney, in his buying and selling of companies, as a corporate raider, is dealing with or is himself a party that wants inside information on some company or investment of Trump’s so that a deal can get leveraged.
I think the request for Trump’s taxes is not only political, vis a vis Reid’s idea about Romney paying none, but also may in fact BE from a Democrat...like Hillary...looking to threaten a Trump negotiation/contract.
Trump isn’t a drunk monkey. He’s an orange orangutang.
I think you do fancy Bloomberg. You know, the way Mitt knows there is a bombshell in Trump’s tax returns. Cruz logic.
“It means heâs a fraud”
Yes, and that is hard news that his acolytes do not like.
I’ll let them kill the messenger.
That’s almost funny.
Seriously, why do you support a gun grabber?
A guy who has had more conflicting positions that Myth Romney?
I am angry too. I can’t stand the establishment. I’d love to blow it up.
But that doesn’t mean I fall for a known liberal fraud who whispers sweet nothings in my ear.
>>>From what Iâve heard, if he had just put his inheritance in an index fund and let it sit there, he would be wealthier than he is today<<<
So, Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda is the new way to Invest?
If only I was able to pick those Winning Powerball Numbers Sunday Morning rather that the night before. If only...
The only ones who care about Trump's tax returns are the ones hoping to be able to go on a fishing expedition, looking for a couple of items they can spin out of context to try to hurt Trump with completely irrelevant trivial points.
Eff 'em. Politicians like Romney are why I decided a few years ago not to vote anymore. I'll vote for Trump if I get the chance this fall. Nobody else.
unreachable and zealous in their support.
Probably because a lot of us have seen all the tricks in the book pulled over the years. We are not neophytes to the game playing, the direct attacks to destroy, and we don’t listen to OTHER PEOPLE’S OPINIONS. We listen to our own based on our own research and beliefs. You might call Trump supporters a lot like the 101st Airborne at Bastogne. We agree with their leader,General McAuliffe, who said NUTS to a demand of surrender. FYI Nuts meant, “Go to Hell.”
“Trump isnât a drunk monkey. Heâs an orange orangutang.”
OMG! ROTFLMA! He has little fingers too! And funny hair! I think I just peed myself a little bit! More! More!
The IRS has his tax returns. Audit every year. Yet here he is the next President. You appear to be a fool.
Because he has no history of gun grabbing.
Support whoever you want to but don’t mindlessly quote that loser Romney and that ultimate creep Graydon Carter. It makes you look really stupid and vulgar. Look at the responses you’re getting and take a long look in the mirror.
“Trump isnât a drunk monkey. Heâs an orange orangutang.”
Very possibly. I get the desire for a disrupter; someone to break the status quo.
But Trump is simply a fraud and people are going to be horribly disappointed in the man, just like all the investors he’s had whom he left high and dry.
He gives great, moving, angry, speeches.
Well, lots of bad leaders do that. I want a real leader, with principles, not a vindictive speechmaker with thin skin.
We’ve had 8 years of that already.
“Words out on the street that Trump is broke, and needs to show his tax forms. Also rumored he’s really transgender, and those five kids really belong to Ward Hubbell.” Mitt Romney, World’s biggest loser
Gasparino was a big Trump supporter a few months ago but has started badmouthing Trump every chance he gets. Must have asked him for a job and was told no.
