Trump Spent $1 Million Per Week on Himself While Stiffing Builders
National Review ^ | March 8, 2016 | Celina Durgin

What is Donald Trump’s art of deal-making? Failing to uphold his end of the bargain.

In 1990, while Trump was dropping $1 million every week on his homes, yacht, private jet, and other personal expenses, he had defrauded contractors and construction workers by upwards of $60 million. His struggling casinos, airline, and real-estate holdings couldn’t simultaneously maintain his lifestyle and pay hired workers, so he chose to keep the former and cheat the latter.

Trump owed a team of construction firms and suppliers payments for their work on his Taj Mahal hotel and casino, which were nearly bankrupt. (Trump himself was about $3 billion in debt to banks and junk bond holders.) Marty Rosenberg, then–vice president of Atlantic Plate Glass, said Trump owed his company about $1.5 million in late payments for a glass job on the hotel. S. A. Miller writes in the Washington Times,

Mr. Rosenberg, who was vice president of Atlantic Plate Glass at the time, helped form a committee of construction firms and suppliers stiffed by Mr. Trump. He then served as a member of the so-called Group of Seven leading the committee’s negotiations that resulted in the contractors getting partial payments.

Atlantic Plate Glass lost about $450,000 in the settlement, said Mr. Rosenberg, adding that his personal finances took a hit because of his minority stockholder stake in the firm, and that the company struggled but overcame the loss.

Others fared worse, he said, including smaller businesses that didn’t survive.

This is not crap. I remember reading these accounts about small businesses that just literally went out of business, long before he probably even thought about running. And don’t try the Hillary talking point about under capitalized businesses. This was fraud as far as I’m concerned

People offered as those whose opinions we must follow are: actors and actresses, journalists, college professors, media creatures, lawyers etc. Most of whom have ever held elected office, led military units, created and controlled large economic units resulting in jobs etc. etc.

The story of the contractors and subs being shorted on payments for construction of a luxury hotel gave me flashbacks to the late 80s/early 90s when Charles Keating caused the same results when building The Phoenician Hotel in Scottsdale/Phoenix AZ. It all got tied up in the savings and loan debacle with payments doled out by the Reconstruction Finance Corporation. I worked for one of the subs on that project and it very nearly put them out of business.

Exactly. The writer in this case was a college intern with National Review in 2014. If you were at thanksgiving dinner, can you imagine the grown men there seeking her out for her advice?

The fact that such kids are pushed to the front tells you all you need to know about journalism. It is a propaganda outlet for the government/media complex, nothing more.

As long as its fair game to go back to 1990 for dirt, I'm confident Trump will come out on top against Hillary and Bill.

No way in the world Cruz attempts to go after Hillary like Trump. He has a Goldman Sachs income to protect.

Gods word tells us that He delights in leaders that do justice and do righteous, not just talking about it but doing these acts. I am looking for a leader, just one that will act with honor.

Its funny, this little girl was not even an indecent thought yet in 1990. She was in kindergarten when Monica was pleasing Bill in the oval office.

THIS is who National Review has lecturing us.

The media definitely wants Trump, practically everyday he calls into the Matt Lauer NBC show in the morning.

They can’t wait to dish the Trump dirt.

They will turn Trump into the greatest rip off of all time. The 1%, who pays ZERO in taxes and holds back last payments to rip off the working man.

Read Edward Bernay's "Propaganda" and related books. Bernay's was Woodrow Wilson's WWI propaganda man. He is known as the father of Public Relations and was single handed in changing American mores in the 1930's. His books set forth in simple terms how public opinion is controlled and manipulated. He sets forth the basics of current opinion control.

Curiously he was Sigmund Freud's nephew.
