He ripped off some mattress tags.
If it was the rental company that filed the charge all he has to do is show up in court. If the rental company doesn’t show then the case will probably be dismissed.
Are police officers supposed to exercise some judgement? They filed within the statute of limitations, but there is no evidence he evaded the charge?
I get nervous when I buy a rare book and it has a slot for a library card and a library’s stamp inside the cover. Even if the library sold the book at a special sale there is no way to prove it and somebody can make the ownership of it a pain in the butt. I own several rare books like this.
Is it a civil remedy for this kind of thing?
Yes, what most likely happened is the plaintiff got a default judgment in civil court and then went to court to collect on the judgment and the defendant again ignored it and the Judge issued a bench warrant for the defendant to appear.
Next time, get a receipt and keep it in the slot.
Pulled over, arrest warrant, for a real lousy movie. Talk about having a bad day.
He should demand a jury trial.
This would go through small claims first, then a judgement, then a warrant....I think...
Where’s the proof of service.
Awesome
:)
Unbelievable. And its funny to think that video rental stores are almost all gone now. And funny to think this is over an obsolete VHS tape.
Nurnberg Nazis should have had to watch this film while being hanged.
Good one!
Is it Porn?
Then again guess you can’t judge a book (or title) by its name.
Booker? Library Cop named Booker....hmmmm

I guess this pumps the stats of the Police Dept, but I can't imagine a judge wasting any time on it - the first thing out of the Defense Attorney's mouth should be "How was he supposed to return it to a store that is closed?"
If they actually get this to court, the “perp” has already lost.
