The Briefing Room ^ | March 25, 2016 | A.B. Raxas

In perfect tabloid fashion one can expect this time in a contentious election cycle (remember Herman Cain), supermarket tabloid The National Enquirer decided to fabricate a sex scandal about Ted Cruz that could be the plot for a sequel to Eyes Wide Shut if it weren't so unbelievable.

She wasn't "ousted" as Trump's spokesperson. She's been Trump's spokesperson for some time and has been embroiled in controversy numerous times for her statements and her past, including a shoplifting arrest.

There was no "ousting" though.

My thread was to a Salon.com article that referenced the frenzy over this on Twitter and even that was pulled.

The mod said the reason was NE once said Kurt Kobain was killed by someone with a shotgun or something.... The article was about a frenzy on Twitter.

The New York Times says absolutely insane things all the day long and their threads don’t get pulled!?

Standard 1:
Trump has ties to the mob: We have no story, but you know it’s true! Cruz even said it’s on Trump’s tax return!

Standard 2:
Cruz is tied to 5 women he’s been sleeping with: So what if there is a story, and names!!!!! It’s FAKE!!!! How dare you!!!!!!!!!! Pull threads! Fingers in ears!!!!

So you believe we have men from Mars living amongst us?
It's not whether National Enquirer has been right before. ,(even a broken clock is right twice a day). It's whether the overwhelming preponderance of stories in National Enquirer are false or made up stories(they are).

Pot meet kettle. Kettle meet pot. Who’s had more adulterous affairs than Donald Trump?

So you admit it; let the truth come out then. If true, and widely known, that would explain why Walker, of all people, indicated Cruz would not be the nominee. It's so reckless to campaign for President on a religious platform with affairs in the closet ?

N'est-ce pas? ( isn't that true/so?)

Read the statement carefully and you will see it says nothing only implies. Accurate about what? The author can always say he was misunderstood.

I had a open thread discussion with the Admin Moderator yesterday about this same issue. Like all of us here, we abhor censorship and I wondered why FR was silencing mature adult FR conversations regarding this rumor?

The official response from the moderator was that they were not allowing crap sources like Conservative Treehouse or other such blogs.

I understand that. But still, we post from CTH and even Salon and Slate all the time when the dirt is on the left side. But when it hits too close to home?

“No Thanks”.

While I am now backing Donald Trump, and am deeply saddened by Cruz's method of cherry picking past political comments, and then putting a deliberately misleading interpretation on them--which is surely bearing false witness;--I emphatically disagree with your comment. Cruz will greatly diminish his remaining stature by even commenting on these allegations. One should not encourage vile gossip, or get drawn into ridiculous discussion of such non-political matters.

The current tendency to make politics ever more demeaning, should not be encouraged in any way. Cruz is able to discuss the serious public political, economic & cultural issues. If he gets drawn into neglecting his strong suit, he will make a very serious mistake.

Here’s something else. Don’t most publications contact the subject of their article for a comment prior to print? Wouldn’t Cruz already know that this story was about to hit the street?

It seems odd that he hasn’t responded.

Exactly. If you think about it, The GOPe is propping up Cruz. The Times and Breitbart are holding on the story. Walker came out and said that non of the current candidates will be the nominee.

It is a stretch, but the GOPe is propping up Cruz in hopes of pulling enough delegates away from Trump to have a contested convention. The story will break big time and the GOPe will drop Cruz and can install their candidate at the convention.

I won’t say that I don’t understand the articles being pulled because of the reticence of the management to try to maintain two viable candidates without all the rancor - I agree to an extent. But there are emerging revelations that need some kind of humane treatment of what is arising and what the implications are. We here can’t survive as mushrooms force fed censored information.

Regardless, even despite what’s happening here this morning, the ‘legs’ of this story, true or not, will out without us. To my mind, it is incumbent on us to know the facts and to discern with fairness and KNOWLEDGE and to demur a judgment until more is known - but without total censorship.
