Heroic Woman Makes It Through 2 Innings of Yanks Game Googling-How Long Does a Baseball Game Last?
New York Magazine ^ | April 14, 2016

A woman attended a Yankees–Blue Jays game on Wednesday night and managed to make it through two entire innings before Googling the inevitable: "How long does a baseball game last?"

The person sitting behind her posted a photo of the moment she realized she'd be stuck at a stadium in Toronto in early April for at least seven more innings. It probably wasn't the worst moment of her life, but I'd bet it came close.

Of course, like all images on the internet, there's always the chance this one has been Photoshopped, but if it lies to us it's only so it can point to a greater truth: that baseball games are too damn long.

It's all good, really. One of my favorites is the Class A "Delmarva Shorebirds". When newly married, we liked to camp at Assateague Island. We'd catch a Shorebirds game on the way back.

Those were good times.

Indeed and she was inside a relatively comfy dome last night. It's not like she was earning a Croix de Candlestick. For those who remember it was awarded for lasting an extra inning game at night.

Why a baseball game lasts 9 innings unless it rains or it is tied after 9 innings.

Baseball is more exciting than a Chess game.

No one complained. Was during the 1970’s. Her kid, her car, her choice. Somehow the adults and kids survived without the government or anyone else telling us what to do. Everybody minded their own business. Delightful times.

Baseball games are what they are.

They are what they are but they ain't what they used to be.......

Too much of the batters stepping out of the box adjusting their cups, tightening their gloves, scratching their butts, anything to delay and throw off the pitcher's rhythm.........Likewise, the pitchers.......

Put a time limit on the games, anywhere between 2 hours and 2 1/2 hours........If the game is tied at the time limit, then it's sudden death...........

But that ain't gonna happen.........

I haven’t been in a theatre in years. Won’t go. Certainly never to a mall.

Years ago the local theatre used to have old Buster Keaton nights with live piano music. That was great.

Everyone seems to be in a hurry any more. Just go to the game, have some more peanuts and another hot dog - if you can afford them - and just enjoy! The antics they engage in are just guy things.

I like watching baseball live but baseball in April sucks north of the Mason/Dixon line. It's way too cold and chilly for baseball up here. I don't blame that woman for wanting to leave and go someplace warm. It's miserable to sit in a ballpark in that weather. At least the players get to move around and sit in a heated dugout half the night.

They should either shorten the season and have it start in May or play all the April games down South.

Legitimate questions. For VS, it was Tom Cruise and looked like an action movie. It had a car chase, but other than that it was a chick flick. Half way through we realized we’d been duped.

I no longer go to theaters or theme parks (live in Orlando) and no one ever even invited me to go. Worked out well.
