For all who enjoyed his game and the excitement he brought to the tour and the industry, this is a bit heartbreaking. It's about a man without a life who so many thought had the perfect one; at least for a while.
Heartbreaking? Not in the least..... And he never really let us in, he, or his handlers and Earl, constructed a façade. Maybe after Earl's death, Tiger himself no longer had the energy or the desire to maintain it. And the obsession with the SEALs and special forces? I don't even know what to make of that. Searching for his father? Have to leave that to the psychiatrists...
There’s a thin line between greatness and arrogance and he crossed way over the line. This is the reason for his downfall and throw in a little bit of roids!
That is a long article. What is your summary?
I get that his dad and the SEALS were important to him.
What did I miss?
When you think about it, golf was Tiger's entire life since he was 4 years old.
Back in the early 80's I used to run a lot of 5 and 10k races as a recreational runner. There was a young girl in her early teens who was a brilliant runner and totally dominated her age group throughout the state.
Unfortunately she was coached by her father who was an unmerciful tyrant and by the time she got to high school, he had completely destroyed her will to run anymore......and she never did.
I know that story is neither here nor there but it makes you wonder if Tiger's golfing career wasn't more to please his father than it was for himself.
I think in some respects Tiger is probably happier now that he doesn't have to perform and please the rest of the world.
