DUDLEY, Mass. (AP) -- On the site of a long-idle dairy farm, leaders of a local mosque hope to build a final resting place for about 500 Muslim families - to the dismay of many residents of this quaint town in central Massachusetts.
In arguments cemetery developers and activists decry as thinly veiled bigotry, neighbors say they fear burial practices could contaminate groundwater because Muslims traditionally do not embalm bodies and bury their dead without coffins.

But as far as this coffin and embalming thing, that is a scam by the organized Funeral Directors.
Soil has been checked in the vicinity of mass graves and burial sites and found to have no deleterious effect on the water or the environment, and it ain't as if they were going to bury 500 bodies at one time...although that wouldn't bother me, either, if it guaranteed we would be free of the demon pedophile worshipers.
When God (the True God, not that moon god allah what the hell ever) said dust to dust, that's what He meant.
Studies have shown that a body not otherwise contaminated (some viruses and organisms can survive for eons) will be rendered into harmless components within six months if properly buried, depending on the soil type, etc.
Ideally, it should be naked and not less that six feet deep, but I believe muslim custom is to shroud the body for burial, but a plain cotton shroud should not curtail the decomposition of the body.
So, as much I would protest anything muslim...this is not something I'll get upset about...and truth be known, I advocate it for everybody.
These damned vaults and sealed coffins with a preserved body are stupid.
I have a 75 years guarantee on the vault of my wife's burial...I asked the Funeral Director who the hell was gonna check in 75 years.
He said it was all about peace of mind...and to this day, I imagine her lying there, intact, waiting for the last day of the guarantee, to finally be rendered unto the dust that God said she would be.
But try to fight it...and see how far you get.
The Funeral Business lobby is powerful...very powerful.
The only other alternative is cremation and they screw you on that, also.
I've prepaid mine and had a hell of a fight with them over the cost of the coffin that they were going to burn me in.
Took a lot of hell raising to get them to stipulate to a plain cardboard container for my body to put into to be shoved into the oven.
Damned vultures.

But it matters not what the issue is...if the stinking muslims want it and we object, for WHATEVER reason, we are the one's at fault.

If you can’t abide by the laws that already exist concerning potential groundwater contamination my suggestion would be cremation. Short of that send them back to the place from whence they came.
Everything dies, and almost everything ends up rotting in place and getting back into the environment. The burial practices are not the issue, unless tens of thousands of them all die over a short span of time and are buried in one spot. Hmmmm...

We buried my dad in a pine box one of his carpenters made. We still needed to get the expensive concrete vault - rated for a 20 mega-ton nuclear bomb.
Hmmm. I wonder if the muslims could make a deal with the local Indian reservation?
Jurisdictions need to get cracking on zoning: no satanic or heathen cemeteries allowed; no burials without embalming or cremation, plus vault and casket.
