Meragtroid?
Those are hideous names for a girl in this day and age. I can't imagine doing something so terrible to my daughter.
That was my mother's suggestion for my daughter in 1980. I hated the name then and I hate it today even more.

Why on earth would you post something like that?
How old are you? Fourteen?
.
heavens to
Some old-fashioned given names have aged well and some haven’t. I like seeing children with old family names for the most part, both girls and boys, but Ethel isn’t one of them. I don’t have any aunts or grandmothers with that name, so maybe I’m not seeing things in the same light as those who do. A favorite aunt of mine was named Josephine, and I was hoping my niece would be named for her, but she wasn’t. They went for popular names, not connected to family.
Yeah, but what’ll you call her for short? :-)

I could tell you a funny story about that someday.

Lol. Yup.
Ethel and Edna? An acquaintance of mine married a beautiful girl named Ethel—and Edna Purviance is a great actress.
Why? Because it's true. As a first generation American who was born right after my parents came to America I can tell you first hand how damaging the wrong name can be. I dumped my old world name as soon as I could.
A 2 yr. old named Ethel = adorable.
20 yr old Ethel - not so much. LOL!
You know it. My niece named Hilary has taken to introducing herself as "Hilary with one L".
Yeah, but whatll you call her for short? :-)

I once had a girl friend named Virginia, they called her Virgin for short...................but not for long.
No, Edna and Ethel are beautiful names, and very feminine. I cringe when I hear that female babies today are given masculine-sounding names like Blair, Tracy or Brooklyn.
I don't see it as amazing.
I see it a female-driven faddish trendiness and thus something to be leery of.
